Been looking for years for the right deal and found it. Shot a friend's 1894 years ago and loved it, but couldn't talk my buddy out of it so the search began. I found a couple over the last few years, but always something I didn't like about them...no JM stamp, not stainless, overpriced, etc. I could have bought a Remlin, but didn't want to.
Today the tide turned and I am now the owner of my friend's rifle. The only lever action I have wanted since my first one [Model 94 30-30 in 1969]. Started looking about 6 years ago, but they don't come up for sale very often. Got it with 220 rounds, Belt that holds 20 rounds and a scabbard for $800!
I was sure this buddy of mine would never part with the rifle...wasn't easy for him, but it worked out and I wasted no time in letting the cash fly out of my pocket. I let him set the price and only asked him once if he was sure about it. He has only shot 50 rounds through it since he bought it new in 2007.
A nice leather sling has been added and that's all it will get unless I replace the butt pad. It's the only part of the rifle that needs attention. Nothing really wrong with it, just discolored a bit.

I've got one in blue. Love it and I'm sure you'll love yours too.
FYI - Mine did not like the Leverevolution ammo at all. Now days I handload for it and get 1 - 1.25 inch accuracy all day long. I've killed several deer with it.
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.
Patience does pay off. That a little pushing at the last minute [counting out the cash while saying I had the money for the rifle even though he had technically not decided to part with it yet ].
Doubt I will ever part with this one, been after it for too long to give it up. Also getting a set of reloading dies so it looks like at some point in the near future I will be getting set up to do that.
I picked up one some years back in 38/55, as I have always liked that caliber. I shot two deer with it last season, and one the season before. I'll part with my left hand before I'll give up that rifle !!
I feel the same way about this one. Can’t see a reason I’d ever part with it. Picked up some .44 special yesterday to round out the ammo for it. After passing on the .224 V to a new owner at the Rodeo show in Mesquite I checked the prices on both .44 rounds and it’s still around .90-$1. Got mine for .50 a round in both jhp and fmj.
Well it was a good run while it lasted. My good friend and I went to a gun show two weekends ago and he told me what had been stolen from him while he was in Irving trying to help a family member. Turns out some members of the family stole all his other rifles. We looked for a replacement for his Glenfield 30-30 and one for his Henry .22 magnum but found nothing he was interested in. I told him he could buy his Marlin .44 mag back from me for what I paid for it. He couldn't believe I offered but I told him he could NOT be without a rifle. He took the deal of course.
I replaced it last weekend with a new Henry X model in .45 Colt. Very happy to have a similar round [I know they aren't as powerful or fast] lever gun in the safe. Going to shoot it tomorrow afternoon and again on Sunday.
