Haven't seen any of these melanistic deer in almost a year.

Beautiful deer, as much as I’d love to have one mounted I couldn’t make myself shoot one. Those and an albino would definitely get a free pass..

My granmother has lived on Lake Travis for close to 45 years. 3 years ago was the first melanistic deer and now it lives in front yard. One more appeared last year and now we have cocoa and coffee.

Awesome! I love Melanistic animals. Still see some deer at our place like that from time to time. Had a long history with one in particular. Finally got him at 7.5yrs old. Here’s the write up, if you wanna read up on it:

Beautiful deer and great story SOB!

I believe he would have been a full body mount if I'd been lucky enough to get him. Amazing!

My FIL has a melanistic buck mount that he shot near Buda years ago. I saw 2 that were hit on hwy 32 near Fischer. Beautiful animals for sure.

We have then in the county I live in and hunt. Several years ago, I had an 8 point one at 15 yards with my bow drawn back and on target, but it had a basket rack so it got a walk. I never saw it again or have it on trail camera so I guess a neighbor has a nice dark trophy.
