Anybody out there have any experience cooking with it? I was watching an Aaron Franklin piece where he used it in barbeque sauce. It's an ingredient in Heinz 57 and A-1 which I love. Just looking for any input you guys and gals may have.

I believe there is a common substitute, not sure what it was but Google will have an answer.

I have used a tamarind chutney or sauce with Indian food quite a few times. I can see how it would work well in a bbq sauce. An Indian grocery store would have it in several forms, dried, pickled, chutney and fresh.

I'll have to do some digging but I have used it before .... just don't recall what recipe called for it.
