Spent the last week at the ranch, mainly by myself. Visited a friend Wednesday afternoon and met with a few fence builders but by and large it has been me and the two dogs.

I used to hate being by myself for any appreciable amount of time, bit now as I’m a bit older I find myself enjoying the solitude. Now I’m not completely isolated as I still have my cell phone, internet, etc. but being away from suburbia is extremely enjoyable.

Was able to get quite a bit of stuff done, got the barn in ship shape, got a fuel tank delivered and filled, piled some dead cedar, filled the last roll off dumpster and even got to get some hunting in.

The hermit lifestyle isn’t all that bad!

you know I am 68 years old - I have done what you did - gone to the lease or somewhere totally by myself - in my case it was awesome for a couple of days and then I found myself wanting to communicate with my wife, kids and grandkids, and friends - so for me the idea of being totally alone sounds good but in reality not so much - but everyone is different

If vintage includes rusty with bullet holes, then yes

Was gonna use it to skirt the cabins...then wife decided she wanted rock.

Looks like a great time. I am rarely alone but I seriously think I could be a hermit if given the opportunity

cheers I have lived that lifestyle for the last 35 yrs now and it seems to have a way of growing on you. You tend to pay more attention to your surroundings and appreciate them more also.

The garage looks great. Do you hire out?

I call it solitude, my wife calls it anti-social grin Grew up an only child so it's pretty easy for me to be alone. As I have got older I do really enjoy my wife's company. That's a badd azzz place you have there btw. Perfect for some alone time.

Got in a blind last night after taking it easy yesterday.

Pretty quiet evening, few wt does showed up, heard some axis in the distance but none came into the set.

About 9pm I decided to call it, opened the door and walked out in the porch, took a leak, then went back inside to get my stuff. On the way out as I was closing the door, I look and 75 yards behind me is a sounder comming single file down the trail. I put the gear down and when the burst one stopped I let her have it. She fell and the rest of the group ran and then stopped to look around. I plugged another one and it ran off into the cedars. I reloaded and a few started running out from the left. One tardy one ran out across a large opening and I was able to give it proper lead and a second later he was no more.

Nothing wrong with having alone time in the woods. Looks like it was beneficial in many ways. flag

Lots will never enjoy the flexibility you have created for yourself. Aren't you glad your wife found the place, were smart enough to purchase it and actually could purchase it?

Place is looking great txt85!

I like the solitude and quiet as well myself

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!
