My mustang grapes are still green as can be. Same here. I’m looking forward to doing something productive with them.

Seems early for mustangs, yours must get riper before the vine that we pick from. I do know folks that cook the juice out and freeze it and make jelly later, when it is not 100 degrees out. We usually make jelly after the beginning of August. Depending on the year it can even be near the end of August. We made 20 pints last year. That takes about a five gallon bucket full of grapes. This thread makes me want to go check the vines, maybe it is an early year. My wife does the cook and freeze for later canning method for Mustang grapes . We have family and friends that beg for jars of her jelly .

Just finished my yearly batch of jelly. Now I have to hide most of it from the kids and in-laws. That is good stuff man! My grandma used to make a ton of it every year We also made a bunch of wine most years to.

My mustang grapes are still green as can be. You probably have muscadine grapes if they are still green. Both look similar, mustang ripen this time of year while muscadine will ripen in august/September. I prefer muscadine grapes as they are sweeter than mustang.

I prefer muscadine also but have not been able to find any. I just use more sugar to sweeten the mustangs to my taste. And yes it was hot yesterday picking them but it will be well worth the effort.

I have both and started a thread on here a couple of months ago about the difference. Both are still green on my ranch.

Mom made mustang grape jelly. Wild plum jelly too. My sister and her daughter carry on the family tradition. I tried eating both fresh when I was a kid, I don't know if it was because they came from the sandhills below the Caprock or what, but they were tongue blistering acidic. Only tried them once fresh. I do love both jellies though. And I enjoy the 4 pints of each my sister gives me each year.
