They eat littler prey. Take care of the lil' ones and the scorpions will no longer be a nuisance.

Tempo. Kills everyone that comes in contact with it and lasts for up to 30 days. Also get you some chickens haven't had to spray much with the girls on patrol.

As an ordained scorpion eradicator, i have tried various methods and believe I’ve cracked the code. FYI - over the years, there Have been nights when i have seen as many as 15-20 around my Barndo, but not as bad since i went full Rambo.

I’ve used demon wp with some success - it works, but doesn’t last as long as others. I mostly rely now on Talstar concentrate and granules. I spread the granules with a broadcaster out to maybe 20’ around perimeter. Then also spray the foundation and 3’ up wall using a pump up sprayer with recommended mix of water/talstar. For immediate knock down if i am seeing multiple scopes, i mix in a shot of Tiempo (sp) as well. Another tidbit, my process was to spray quarterly, but based on conversation with pest control guy, i now spray at least every 6 weeks.

Finally, for those that sneak by, even though they are probably poisoned already, i Place 6 or 8 sticky traps around in corners, along baseboards, and in closets. If i start seeing lots of stuck scorps, i May spray sooner than 6 weeks.

Scorpion control is a four pronged approach.
1: The removal or modification of harborage areas and areas where their food lives. This includes removing all tree limbs, and shrubbery so that it doesn’t touch the structure.
2: Sealing up entry points such as weepholes, eave seams, utility entrances, veneer seams and cracks.
3: A residual wettable powder applied in a 20’-40’ band around and on the structure, with special attention being paid to the remaining conducive areas.
4: The elimination or minimization of their food resources. Most scorpion species in Texas are relatively small and their most abundant food sources are often soft bodied insects like spiders, crickets, grasshoppers, etc.

You can also place small glue traps around interior entry points and in the conducive areas of the interior. This would include any hiding areas such as under nightstands, dressers, or other furniture. Always place them against a wall or large vertical surface. Some brands, like the Trapper LTD, can be folded into the shape of a tent/triangle and taped so they hold that shape. That allows them to be placed in more confined areas, as well as help keeping kids and animals from getting stuck. A little cooking oil or peanut butter oil can be used to remove a kid or animal from the sticky traps.
Relying on chemical methods alone will do you about as much good as peeing upwind in a hurricane.

I live in the woods. Chickens typically last a day or so here at best. I would have to build a fortress for them to last longer than a day and a night.

We use the red/white jug of ortho home defense. It kills them. Ill spray we wont have a problem for a while then a long dry spell will end or a long wet spell with end and all of a sudden bam here they come spray again and done for a while.

Demon

I’ve added Suspend in the rotation as well. Also if you’re able to, spray under the house as well.

Demon WP will kill scorpions.According to their website " Demon WP Insecticide is labeled for scorpions. Per ther product Label, you will want to use 2 packets per gallon of water.
It will also kill insects that are around your home which is why the scorpions are there to start with.

When they are bad around my place, I take a flashlight and go out a couple of hours after dark and look for them on the exterior walls of our home. They come out to feed at night. Hit them with a shot of wasp spray. It takes a while for the spray to penetrate their exoskeleton... they fall off and may crawl away but it'll kill them.

Talstar will knock them down. We used to pay a pest control company and they just couldn't get the scorpions under control. I did my research and Talstar was the consensus. I bought that and started doing my own spraying. Scorpion problem solved, I only have to spray outside, AND I save a ton of money.

Tempo dust should do it as well. I use that for wasps, yellow jackets, etc. Main reason for the difference is I think tempo lasts longer, but you have to put it where it won't get wet. It'll wash away.

You can go to your local hardware store and purchase a pocket-sized black light flashlight for less than $10.
Black lights are effective because of the luminescent quality of scorpions. When hit with a black light, they will shine with a glow-in-the-dark yellow-blue-green color.

LOL i recently did this as well. Took the dog out and saw two on the front porch on the brick and hit them with the wasp spray. As quickly as it knocks wasps down etc., I have even sprayed a mouse with that stuff at deer camp years ago and it killed it, i was amazed how long it took to stop the scorpions from crawling around, but they did die.

I use D-fense SC. It was recommended by our professional exterminator that handles all of our apartment properties. It kills almost all insects and arachnids including scorpions, spiders, wasps. I spray it around the perimeter of our cabin and barndo up 2 - 3 feet as well as inside along all walls. I also spray it up under the porches and eaves where spiders and wasps make their webs/nests and have eliminated that problem. It dries clear and won't stain carpet or flooring. Once it dries, it is not harmful to pets or other animals. It does need to be applied about every six weeks, but it is extremely effective. I highly recommend if you have kids or pets around.

A little off topic, but that black light trick also works for finding hornworms on your tomato plants. After finding a couple of larger ones recently during daylight hours, I have been out at night finding really small ones and removing them before they get a chance to do real damage.

Like posted above Demon WP sprayed nside the house sprayed along baseboards, door and window edges will last up to 30 days. Spray the outside around the doors, windows and along sides of house when it is not going to rain. Spray your porches and see how much is kills.
