Looked yesterday and today but I could not find anything on the forums, but has anyone replaced the cheap nylon (?) straps on their ladder stand with cables, such as vinyl/pvc coated stainless steel or galvanized cable for long term ladder stands?

Haven't done that but have used rachet straps which are good for several years and can be loosened as the tree grows. Also had some that used a chain with a mini load binder.

I use ratchet straps, but check them frequently. They rot and squirrels will chew them!

We used chain and small boomers to attach treestands to the trees. They would work good for ladder stands also.

I took down a ladder tree stand that had been there for about 10 years but not used in 7 years. The tree was holding it up because the limbs had grown around it . I am going to get some new ratchet straps and put it on my new lease to hunt out of. All of the straps were rotten and had fell off.
