I am thinking of buying/building a mobile camper. My family is considering traveling with me for work and a lot can be saved renting an rv spot opposed to staying in motels. I have an f350 now but it does have 225k miles, so thinking of trading it in on a used Tacoma and pulling it behind the bus. Has anyone ventured into this or know anyone that has? We will have a master bedroom in the far back and bunk beds on one side of hallway for our little one. I’m looking for any advice; cabover or ??, will a bus pull the truck, engine?, and anything else you could add would be greatly appreciated.

I will also be in the market soon for a good used bus if anyone knows of any.

Here is a link to one I did a few years back.
It might help you with a few things.
Hint: Campgrounds don't really like Skoolies but a reasonable paint job and decent conversion will get you into most.
A school bus yellow or psychedelic paint job will earn you a pass at most.

As for motor, diesel is way to go and moreso if you want to tow a truck.
I have 345IH gas motor with allison automatic and 60MPH is where it likes to run and gets 5MPG with AC running off genset.
Drives like really big suburban.
It is totally self contained but also has provisions to hook up at camp ground.
