I have not seen them grab the cage, but I have seen pics of them standing up and beating/hitting the motor.

We have had hogs tear up our barrel type feeders even with t-posts etc. used to support them.
Seems like they reach up like that and may not be tall enough but land on the pipe used
for the feeder and bend it or break it where it connects up at the barrel. We rebuilt our
feeder 2 times and said that was enough so we went with a stand and fill type feeder. All of those
feeders have been great and we have not had one destroyed yet.

We still need one more feeder this year and want to try out Ramball's feeders if we can make it work out.

I think it's more common for them to 'bump' the legs. Eventually they can knock a feeder over that way, usually they just knock it lopsided.
I'm not aware of hogs grabbing the cage like that.

I am guessing that the boar probably got a tooth or tusk hung in the cage and reacted to being hung up. I have seen hog root around the bottom of a feeder leg before on feeders not staked down to a tpost or rebar. I think on my feeders they were after the sour smell of water and grain trapped inside the feeder leg. I know that it sours from having had it get all over me when taking a feeder down and moving it. Now I never have a feeder up without a feed pen.

Not hard with the flimsy leg feeders. 3 t post one on each leg and some wire would have prevented that.

Snapper, if you look at the photo again, you will notice a T-post on each leg along with wire. I will agree that the
legs are week.

Agree with stx, believe the hog got a tooth hung in the cage. Those legs do look like the type that are 2 pc. and they are not the best. Still a good size though try to shoot him soon.

Not sure how I missed that lol. There is a guy on Ft Hood that uses feeders like that but buys army surplus Camo net poles and uses them for legs. They are taller and stronger and could keep that from happening again.

The way you have the T post, you have created a fulcrum on the feeder leg. Next time you might try driving the T posts parallel against the legs instead of straight up and down. I then use hose clamps and a screw gun to strap it tight to the feeder leg. With the T post and leg as one unit, it makes the leg near impossible to bend, flex, or to be pushed pulled farther into ground. And you can't impale yourself if your fall off a ladder, like could happen with the one pictured.

The impaling thing is why I run my T-posts parallel to the feeder legs.

This guy likes to grab the feeder and shake it to get the protein out. His days are numbered. [Linked Image]
