My inertia bullet puller is a RCBS that dates to the 1980’s. I need a new one. What’s the best one these days?

I know you asked for inertia but the collet type is great and much easier than whacking the floor (or other hard surface) several times.

I have a collet one, but didn’t want to use it on cast lead bullets. There weren’t many bullets to pull. My old inertia puller needs a replacement. I just wanted to know if anyone had an inertia type puller that they liked a lot and could recommend.
Maybe nobody has one they like, which is somewhat understandable. Still, the one I have is about 40 years old. Surely somebody is making a better one by now.

Actually no they like a lot of products are not made as well as yours. After 40 years my RCBS finally broke and I am now on my second one since then. I broke the Lyman in just a couple months as the cap cracked. I have a Cabelas one now and it seems to be working so far.

I have a Lyman. I’ve had it for a while. I just used it to break down some 90 grain XTP .380’s that I could not get a collet puller on. I can’t say it is any better or worse than the others. It works ok and has not broken. I’m usually irritated when I use it but it’s not due to how the inertia puller functions.

If your's ain't broke, it's probably better than any others on the market currently. The design hasn't really changed. I hate my inertia puller.

Mine is the old green plastic rcbs. It’s been cracked for years. Still works like a charm.

The plastic inertia pullers are all made by the same subcontractor in differing colors of plastic these days I believe.

My 40 year old green one is still good. And, I screw up enough to break one. Just hasn’t happened.
BTW, put a cotton ball in to protect the bullet.

I use a RCBS collet puller, its great but I don't have collets for all my calibers. I had the RCBS it lasted several years before breaking, I'm guessing I used it on a couple hundred rounds. I bought the blue Frankfort Arsenal and it broke after about 25 rounds.

I recently bought on of the Frankford Arsenal ones. I've never used another one so i have no basis of comparison but this one seems good enough to me. there's a little foamy-ball thing that I assume is suppose to help prevent bullet tip damage, thathing don't work worth a darn. At least for the eld tip on the 178gr bullet, it basically renders them useless. I like the collar system and it gives you enough to use on the standard 308 and 223 bolt face cases.

Is anyone using the Grip & Pull? Yes, it is a quick method. It will slightly scar the bullet though. Pretty much only scar it bad to enough that you'd only worry about it for a +500 yard shot.

The one I have and hate is a 40 year old RCBS. The actual part I hate is the collet that goes around the case rim. It has a whupped out spring, and when trying to use it on some 45 Colt loads, the spring would release one or more parts of the 3 piece collet. Extremely frustrating. It works Ok on 223 and 9mm, but those big 45 Colt cases pushed the darn thing past design limits I think.
The one I just ordered has 3 separate collets for different case head sizes. At least I think it does. Worst case is that I’ll have extra parts I can throw.

I was told years ago by several reloaders forget those collet things in the bullet pullers and just use the shell holder used for reloading. Been doing that for years, and it works great. Read somewhere recently that is a bad practice.
Most of the time I use a Grip-n-pull these days
