Saw this posted on another forum and thought it would be a good read for those haven't seen it. This fella travelled over 200 miles when in rut! Kinda like me travelling 500 miles to hunt exotics.

Renewed faith that no matter what is on the trail camera there really is no telling what you might see!

That's a traveling son of a gun.

We see the same thing. Some that we have been watching all spring/summer disappear only to re appear in February and some that we have never seen before appear out of the thin air.

And then there's finding one dead on your place in January that's been poked by the neighbor and you watched him on camera since July. That's low-fence hunting, and I wouldn't change a thing, but seeing the neighbor's grown son on Facebook pose like a victorious MMA fighter, pumping his fist over another buck they had to call the old man with his hound on is a bit much.

one of our collegues father killed a deer in Frio County in the 1950's or 60's....it was back when the deer season first opened in that part of the state. when he shot it, it happened to be radio collared, the deer was caught and collared in Duval County.

Thats a pretty good run for a buck.

Agreed. But, all he has to do is barely lift his fat little legs over the downed fence and be on my property. But I realize that's partly my fault for not wanting to deal with them and the bs story that I know would come involving cooperating on a better fence.

I hunted a 10,000 ranch in south Texas many years ago. That morning on the east fence line I saw a very unique 8pt. That afternoon on the west fence line, all the way across the ranch, I saw the same buck.

Doesn't impress me. I went across the Pacific a few times.

And Neil Armstrong went to the moon.....what does that have to do with a deer walking 200 miles?

I have told my hunting friends that I have seen a buck from where we hunt in my back yard about 3 days after opening day. They said BS, but I am sure it is the same one. It is only 6 miles line of sight and we have lots of does in our subdivision. That buck had something on his mind to go 200 miles.

First trip I was in the US Navy and crossed the Atlantic. Spent a little time in Spain and Greece loved it. The next 2 trips across the Pacific I was setting up phone systems in Japan, India, China and the Philippines. Between 18 and 31 I was quite a world traveler. Leave me somewhere long enough and I'm bound to not stay lonely.
