A buddy of mine was telling me over the weekend that a law was passed last week that allows a resident in Texas to buy a suppressor as of 9/1 from a Texas domiciled suppressor manufacturer over the counter with no tax stamp. Is this accurate? I cant seem to find anything other than every Joe blow can now carry a handgun as of 9/1.

Yes, I heard that on the Lone Star Outdoor Show podcast last week.

I would NOT run out and buy a suppressor. The Feds still have a dog in this and may make an example of someone if they so desire.

Example...marijuana is legal in some states but illegal at the fed level.

This legislation in no way circumvents the National Firearms Act. I don't see a reputable Texas silencer manufacturer risking their Type 07 FFL or their Class 3 SOT to make these anyway.

I'm certainly curious to see this one tested in Federal court, but I wouldn't want to be the guinea pig.

There's lots out there about the suppressor law. Even in this website.

You may want to go re-read about the Constitutional Carry Law that goes into effect Sept. 1st.

It's not "every Joe Blow" who can carry as you put it. It's citizens that can legally own and possess firearms that can carry with the less restrictive law.

From your attitude, I guess you don't think much of the 2nd Amendment.
