If the changes go into effect what does it mean for those who might own an AR pistol?

If we can register as an SBR what would that process look like?
How much time would we have to register as an SBR?
Would the lower have to be engraved?
If registered as an SBR I’m assuming you can add whatever stock you want.
If you remove the brace and just use the buffer tube would it meet the new requirements?

I'll number them just to keep them clear...my best interpretation of what I've read thus far.

1 - you turn in your pistol or SBR it through the NFA.
2 - same process as today. You submit a form 1 or 4 and wait for your approved stamp...must not have the two pieces mounted during the approval process.
3 - depends...if you wait until everyone else and this is law...I suspect current wait times will be pipe dreams
4 - yes...unless you went form 4 (buying a SBR from the manufacturer versus assembling your own)
5 - correct
6 - I have no idea...it's a points system and different for every rifle, they are making it harder so I suspect the answer most of the time will be no.

My suggestion would be to have ONE SBR lower and change the upper to whatever configuration or caliber suits you for that day and resort back to the host upper when stored or not in use. I have one SBR lower that I change from 5.56 to 300 BO or 6.5G. A the end of the day I just put the SBR'd upper back on the rifle.

Yup, this is the best way. I use Geissele Super 42 H3 buffer/spring system and don't have issues with all my calibers, 9mm, 223, 300bo, 6.5 Grendel, 450bm, 458 Socom, 50 Beowulf suppressed and non-suppressed.

I have an SBR already so I’ll take TXGunner308s advice. I’ll take the pistol and convert to a rifle. If I take this approach I wonder what I’d have to do with the brace and buffer tube.

In reference to question number 1, here are my questions... How many people will not comply to the new ruling, how many of those people will end up in jail over it, how long until the first lawsuit, and will the people win the lawsuit or will the government win?

And once you register it they will know exactly who has what.

It's not exactly "registration". It's more of a pay the fee and a "mother may I" permission slip. Yea, "embrace the suck" that's for sure.

Oh, you can bet that NFA items are on a permanent registry with Big Brother.

Cool.

They know we are armed to the teeth, and they know we can shoot quietly.

How many threads do we need on the same topic?
