Yes expansion was replaced with wind and solar and not Nuclear, Gas or Coal. What was allowed to be online going into the storm was a major sticking point also. Extra capacity should of been up and going pretty storm regardless of Fed

Is this fact checked or opinion?

Checked. You trying to work through what went wrong, not why. The “why” started off with energy capacity replacement with alternative forms due to political/EPA pressures. What was online couldnt meet output due to environmental issues. Key being what was online.

Remember who his brother or bil works for. I can't remember which but it's a relative of some kind.

I wonder if the generator in Forney is down today - didn't notice any steam this morning. Do they still use Ray Hubbard or did they shut that one down too?

I think the most moronic thing in the world was taking Big Brown and Monticello offline...that was a decent chunk of stable generating capability. I guess we have liberals and progressive types to thank for that.

I think they have to give 45 days' notice prior otherwise ERCOT can basically just ignore the request or deny it immediately without giving justification.

That makes more sense. However, according to yesterday's press release, it was "forced outages", which one can only assume were not scheduled, that created the current shortage. That brings into question if poor management of facilities, or simply looking for a legal out in order to perform maintenance is not at play.

A significant number of forced generation outages combined with potential record electric use for the month of June has resulted in tight grid conditions.

Either way, there's no excuse for this ridiculousness. And, as always, we the people are forced to suffer for it at the end of it all.

According to this article,
ERCOT does not use all the wind and solar energy available now
because existing transmission lines cannot handle it.
https://statesman-tx-app.newsmemory.com/?publink=23433462c

Consider this. Why build solar panels in west Texas
to transmit energy all the way to Houston
when homes and businesses there
could have solar panels of their own.

If power plants can’t keep up with demand now, how the #+¥*# are they going to handle the load when everyone is plugging in their cars??? Freakin’ ridiculous.

My guess is she was on her way out for poor performance, and this was her audition tape for OAN or similar.

I admire her for standing up what what she believes.

Their are a lot of power plants down for maintenance that couldn’t be done last year due to Covid. If we can get past the next 10 days all should be good - hopefully- for summer.
