No disrespect Sir! That has to be the dumbest response I've ever seen to a comment. We need hard core conservatives and he was the closet we could come, we need to press much harder.

It’s the truth. Don’t have to like it but we aren’t losing conservative voters to democratic candidates. We are always at risk of losing moderate votes. Again, Cruz is a perfect example of this. People hated him so much they either didn’t vote for the race or voted for Beto. Abbott carried the state fine in the same election. Like I said, be careful what we wish for.

Neither of you are dumb. There are valid arguments on both sides of that coin. Personally, I would prefer someone more conservative than Abbott, but I don't think I'd vote for Prather in the primary(sorry Jason), because I thinkhe'dturna lot of moderates off with his delivery of his message. Not that it'sa bad message...believe it or not,
couth in delivery of a message means something still. Abbott has definitely made some mistakes, but overall, he's been a fairly good conservative Governor IMO, and he does have couth.

Said it better than me and spot on. This same type of situation nearly played out with the exact topic we are on. The house could have killed this because it wasn’t “enough”. Thank god they didn’t and we have something to build on in the future. Same with someone like Abbott. Yes we have things to work on still but god forbid the lunatic Beto gets elected and we are going to have real problems to deal with….this is playing out at the federal level currently.

Abbot was on the news making a big show of signing bills for the power grid, still hasn't signed 1927.

This is very disappointing. I know, if he doesn't sign it, but doesn't veto it, it will become law anyhow....but he has publicly said he would sign it if it came across his desk. Another nail in the coffin of Abbott's political career?

Yep, just because someone claims to be a Republican doesn't make them a conservative. Anyone who votes a straight ticket doesn't know a dang thing about politics. Unfortunately, Republicans are simply the lesser of two evils.

In the mid 60's my older brother (him 13 yrs old...me 11) and I would regularly walk or ride our bicycles down to the river with his pump .22 rifle to shoot at floating sticks or whatever. You could buy a box of .22 ammo at any gas station. No one gave a second look or thought about it.

Even when I was in High School in the early 70's (Austin, Texas) you could bring an unloaded gun to class (pre-approved) for show and tell. Rifles/Shotguns were a common sight in the back of pick-up windows in the school parking lot. And I'm not talking Rural Texas. This was one of the largest schools in the city.

Again, no thought given to that. No one was shooting anyone and if a fight broke out (rare) between two people, it was a fist-fight and generally settled quickly. We weren't all Butt-Hurt and easily 'offended' back then.

If you really want to make yourself sick, look at the annual violent crime statistics put out by the FBI for the years 1960 through 1980. It’s a clear portrait of a society in abrupt decline and a complete rejection of the myth that the 1960’s were a period of enlightenment and love.

seems about the time when the government opened the flood gates with "pay for votes", IE welfare. "we " pay you vote, "we" pay more if you remove the father from the home and see government as daddy.
Fast foward to today and we have a huge portion of America grown effeminate males that cant control their emotions and lash out like little girls

Just heard on the radio today that Houston murders were up 35% so far this year, from last years total number of murders.

Defund the Police, and other BS.

They are giving criminals a free reign. Better arm yourself, if you haven't already.

Abbott needs to sign this bill ASAP, and he could go one further and make it retroactive to the final vote date. wink

But he won't go that far.

If he intends to sign it....he has until the 20th, no rush.

Even IF he doesn't sign it....it still becomes law effective Sept. 1st

ONLY if he were to Veto it...would it anything change.

Probably waiting for a good opportunity for a photo session someplace....to sign.

Could be.
You'd think he would think it would be in best interest of Re election to sign it in to law ASAP instead of waiting/ auto becoming law

I call BS to that. He could have made that opportunity to sign in front of a media grandstand. He a F'n rhino and needs to go next election.
I doubt he will veto it but I also doubt he will sign it.
He should have signed it right away to send a strong message to the liberal idiots every where.

He had time to grandstand the proclamation of the official Texas gun, the Walker revolver. That would have been a great time to sign CC. Instead, he said "I'll be signing more gun laws soon". Not very specific. What's the hold-up?

He's sure sending a clear message to non liberals.

He may want to re-think that.

He is just riding to fence.
If he allows it to become law, he can take credit with responsibility.

Just politics.

If the 2nd amendment was written just to include guns for hunting, why is there not an amendment to protect fishing poles?

You can come back and rescind your post when he does. I know someone 'in the know' who says it will be "very soon". So just watch. And in the meantime, try to settle down.
