I lied!

Had these NY steaks on sale cheap at the grocery, so got a couple to split up tonight. Note to self - "Choice" NY steaks aren't worth the sale price. Spend the extra $10 and get the good ribeyes!

Grilled in the 40 mph wind out back, had to keep the gas on high and watch close. I did a few bacon pieces to get some grease, nuked a couple potatoes in the microwave, added some sugar snap peas and green beans (the little cubed red potatoes were probably over-kill with the bakers, but they keep the heat manageable to prevent burning the greens! Nice mellow red wine to wash it down.

Yeah, a strip is nothing but the bad side of the porterhouse.
Filet or ribeye all day. Your plate would do in a pinch though! 😂

Strips are not my first pic, but by price point at the store they sure are better looking. I dont mind them at all as long as they are 1-thick and 2- rare as hell.

I don`t agree with that assessment. I prefer a NY Strip over ribeye. I have eaten lots of ribeye`s to, but the best steak I ever had was Prime NY strip steak.

When I ran a meat market I would always sell more ribeye`s than strip steaks. I worked in 6 different locations in 31 years and they were all the same. Ribeye`s are the peoples choice, but strip steaks were close (60/40).

Like them both too. Actually, I like every part of the cow except for the stomach & brains.

Tenderize them a little, not much salt to dry them out, and keeping them rare to medium rare and moist seems to be the secret to good NY's. I like them all too SB!!
