Springsteen, at the old Summit in Houston. We were right up front. Took about 3 days for my hearing to recover.

I’ve heard others bands interviewed and they said you do not want to perform after Sevendust because there is no way to compare to their live show.

Good taste in music BTW.

AC/DC For those about to rock tour. My ears are still ringing....

Also found REO Speedwagon and Doobie Brothers to be good.

The other concert questions were easy for me. This one is very difficult.
Overall, I can narrow it down to KISS (79), Van Halen (81), and AC/DC (81 & 09). In that order but so close it probably doesn't matter.

Funny, I was not a fan of either, but a group of co-workers were at a conference in Tampa and decided to go see Prince, backed up by Sly and The Family Stone. It was easily one of the most memorable concerts i had ever seen, just for the showmanship.

Already mentioned Bob Seger in other thread, but will add Roger Waters The Wall about 8 years ago. The visuals were amazing.

Bad Company playing the Straight Shooter album with Ted Nugent as the lead band was pretty good. REO, Rush, Robin Trower, Little Feat and others put on good shows.

Hal Ketchum in front of a small group was special. Marty Stuart, yes, Marty Stuart, was real nice as where Pam Tillis, the Oakridge Boys and more.

Best two shows though were at the rodeo. Alan Jackson was the entertainment and when we saw George roping, we knew what was gonna happen. During the performance, he jumped over the railing and two of them sang recently released Murder on Music Row. The second was when Alan Jackson got sick and they rushed in Clay Walker who sang to that full arena with only a guitar as accompaniment.

The top 4 for me would be
Skid Row when they opened for Bon Jovi. Absolutely blew the doors off of Jovi and I liked them so much I went and bought their CD the next day.
Billy Joel at a concert in Houston just before Christmas one year. He did his regular set plus about 30 minutes of Christmas songs.
Lionel Ritchie at the rodeo. I wasn’t expecting a lot, but he put on one heck of a show.
Rod Stewart at a show in Atlanta around 90/91. He canceled the show earlier in the year because he was sick. So when he came back at the end of the tour, he probably added 45 minutes to the end of the show to make up for it. At the end, he was up there with sheet music in his hands because he didn’t remember the words to all the extra songs they were playing and hadn’t done in 20 years. The guy can also kick a soccer ball a mile and probably launched 20 soccer balls from the stage to the general seating area in the grass.

Thanks,
Rich

While stationed out of Norfolk, heard that The Outlaws were playing in VA Beach.
They set up in a smallish club , probably held about 200-300 people, with those huge Marshall amps across one wall and put on one helluva show!
I couldn’t hear sh** for it seems like a week.

Genesis would have been cool. Phil Collins was awesome. Also a band that bonded my Dad and me/my brother growing up.

Alan Jackson, Dickies Arena, last year just prior to the shut down. Have also seen him twice before at the San Antonio Rodeo.

Lenny Kravitz 1st tour 1989 Auburn Alabama Craig Ross on guitar. His entire band playing through vintage tube amplifiers and crystal clear analog PA. The best sounding show I've ever attended over 35 years.

Opened for the cult. Left early.

Boston was great. Best? Not so sure. Same with The Black Crowes.

Black Crowes got shut down at the astro hall for fighting, said they'd be back for a free concert after the tour. They booked the Sam Houston Coliseum, which was a dump by that time, and played one of the best shows I've seen
