I often open carry a WWI era Colt 1911 on my hunting leases, but I carry it in an original Argentine air force holster for a Ballester Molina pistol. I am wanting to find a holster for the 1911 that is more practical, up to date, more secure, and looks nice. Doing an online search the options as expected look to be endless for this model. I would like to hear what others use and like for open carry. TIA

Crossbreed super tuck is my favorite for the 1911 it’s well supported and hides well. It is kinda big and all I definitely recommend a under shirt because the leather can get annoying some.

I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I will add, if there is a 1911 size holster any of y'all have used that you did not like for whatever reason. I would like to hear about that one too.

It's just me, but I would insist on button retention, if open carried in public.

I'm partial to the Tucker Gunleather HF1 for a 1911. They do quality work. Bullard Leather also makes good stuff. I own both and have been very happy with them.

Urban Carry lock leather holster is my favorite for my 1911's.Has an adjustable retention clip inside that secures the trigger guard. Again it has adjustable retention based on how you like it. Very good quality holster, I have several of them for my 1911's. come in multiple colors. They are $69 and they ship fast.

Galco L719WC. Doesn't meet lawyer standards but it's pretty sweet.
Pass the gravy.

For OWB carry the Tucker HF-1 is hard to beat. I think it is what most the Texas Rangers use.
For IWB Milt Sparks Criterion.
Both the above holsters have 5-6 month wait times on builds but are worth it in my mind. A quality holster makes all the difference in the experience of carrying a gun it is truly like night and day.

I like the Texas holster makers such as El Paso Saddlery, Kirkpatrick and Tucker.
