This seems to be the ammunition that eludes me. I've been able to find bits of 308, 30-06, 7mm-08, 300 Win Mag, and even 6.5PRC.

For some reason I have missed seeing any 270 out there.

Anyone seen any of lately on the shelves?

I know it's not one of the fancy cartridges, but I'm not going to tell that to my rifle... might get it's feelings hurt.

I picked up five boxes of 270 ELD-X from Bass Pro online a couple weeks ago for $39 a box. Their inventory comes and goes.

Not complaining too much, but it's now $45 a box. Thx

Picked up 2 boxes of Winchester Copper XP Saturday morning at a local small town dealer for $32 per box. He only had 3 boxes He said it was the first he has had in months. I also have been seeing some .308's, 6mm, 264wm and others but this was the first .270;s I have seen in months. .243;s are almost as hard to find.

You know, I would have never seen this one coming based on previous ammo shortages. I've shot .270's for 40 years. Never had a problem finding it before. I've seen a few boxes of Winchester and Federal on shelves in the $30-40 (and up) range. Unfortunately, my Sako is sighted in with Remy 130gr Core Lokts and that is the round I prefer and have always shot...fortunately I bought 20 boxes back when they were $14 a box (PLUS a rebate) and on every shelf in the country. They will tide me over until I can buy them again. Will just have to wait and see if the new Remy ammo shoots exactly the same as the old stuff.

I bought 2 boxes of the new stuff at Academy a couple weeks ago. Haven’t shot it yet but would assume it will be the same.

I had purchased 2 boxes of Winchester .270 (130 grain) from Walmart here in San Antonio about 3 weeks ago. I paid $27 for each box of 20. I purchased them on a Tuesday around 11:30am. They had about 8 boxes behind the glass.

I’m waiting to find more Federal Fusion 150 grain. I was wondering if the ammo manufacturers kind of put certain hunting calibers on the back burner to focus on catching up with demand for common MSR calibers.

Midway now shows it available for $60 and some change if anyone's interested. Better type fast.

Thx ShadTank... If that is the Hornady 140gr SST you have, it's priced above my threshold. I've got two boxes of that and paid about $24 each if I remember. Just can't bring myself to pay $60 a box...

You better prepare yourself to pay more. $24/20 rounds is a price you will unlikely see again.

All four components of ammunition have increased in price.

I'm fortunate because an old friend of mine decided to get out of the reloading business and he gave me about 60 boxes of Nosler bullets and probably 200 pieces of unfired brass to go along with the bullets. I've got powder and primers, so I'm set. Pure coincidence; not a shred of pre-planning on my part!

Yes... you are right... those days will not return. I did pick up some of the ELD-X from BPS for 45 / box.

I've got enough to keep my one 270 fed for a while, or until I change over everything to 308 or 7-08.

To look at this from a hand loaders perspective, for me to make .270 Win ammo, I've got about $1.70 just in components. Add $1 a round in labor and I'm at $2.70.

$54 per 20 rounds. 100X better ammo than factory, but that's the deal.

So your $45 per 20 was not screwing you. Not at all.

$45 per 20 I didn't mind for the factory load of ELD-X. Just wasn't ready to go for $60 per 20 for the SST's. Besides my gun doesn't like that as much.

I wouldn't have a problem paying more for tuned hand load, but not ready for that just yet.

All good.

Plenty of it up here in the NE I just wasn’t going to pay 38 bucks for Remmy core lokts. I did find some Winchester 130 grain power points for 32 bucks.

But when I know my Ruger will shoot lights out with the Hornadys and the price was by far the best it was a no brainer. Now finding 204 Ruger is a different deal here.

I have 8-10 boxes of the Hornady I would trade for Core-Lokts…

I never shoot Remmys. It’s always Winchesters but as stated in the past I knew Hornadys worked well
