Took the wife to Amite, Louisiana to eat lunch and conduct some business and police everywhere blocking roads going in town. Wife said that they are filming a movie from a book that she has enjoyed reading. The book is "Where the crawdads sing". She said that she was very much looking forward to seeing the movie. The film crew was set up in the cemetery and I asked her if she wanted to stop and watch the production and she said that she would wait until the movie comes out. I told her that I remembered some folks on the forum had talked about the book before.

Great book. I read it twice. The little girl lived on grits and oysters. Never went to school. Published three books and lectured at universities.

Never read the book, sorry. But i hated when they filmed True Grit here in Granger. They had most of downtown closed (sure its a little town) but I have a box at he P.O. and you had to go thru hoops to get there, even in the EARLY morning. You had to go all the way around to get to the feed store, and anything else. I HOPE they never film here again. Sorry about the rant, but it aint that great having em filming in your town!!!

Very cool! My niece is playing the main character (when she was a child). We’re hoping to visit them on set soon. It’s gonna be a heck of a movie, from everything I’ve heard.

Portions of the movie "Silkwood" were filmed across the street from my Grandma's house in Tom Bean population 600 at the time. That was weird.
Pass the gravy.

That was one of the books I read on Bill Oxner's suggestion. I really enjoyed the book and I'll watch the movie when it's released.

They filmed a lot of the original Benji movie (1974) in and around the old East side of Richardson. We rode our bikes over and watched. My parents had dinner at Chez Paul the night they started filming parts of the scene for The Blues Brothers. Me, and old girlfriend, and her daughter are in a couple of the crowd scenes at Wrigley Field in Rookie of the Year.

Varsity Blues was filmed a lot in Georgetown. They used our football stadium and high school locker room while filming their home games. They paid $50 / night to be extras so the neighbor kid and I would go sit in the stands or end zones as extras for the scenes on the field.

I was in college in Boston when they filmed A Civil Action. They did a scene at Fenway Park and shot for about a week. I was an extra. Don’t think that footage ever made the movie and they paid a LOT for all of us to be extras. John Travolta walked up on the far end of where they were shooting and me and my buddy happening to be right where he walked in. We chatted for a bit and he said hello to dang near every single person on the way to his spot on the far end. Robert Duvall was not pleased. He took 2+ hours making his way through to say hello and thank everyone being there....and they didn’t even use the footage! Lol! All the NU and BU baseball players got to be the Sox and A’s I think. Must have been a cool experience for them also! Saw some Fear The Walking Dead shooting near our ranch a couple years back. Texas is booming for filming these days!
