My grandpa would have called that gun powder, because the next time you sat on the toilet, your hiney would explode.

I would be willing to give it a try.

My grandpa would have called that gun powder, because the next time you sat on the toilet, your hiney would explode. You know I thought it was a dumb idea at first, but only after I opened the spice grinder to early and finished choking on air did I realize I was right. But since I made it I think I’m going to try to use a little in a new rib rub I’m working on. See how it goes.

Excellent! I love habaneros. I make a smoked habanero salsa here, and even though I can as much as I can for later it never lasts lol. One year, I grew several hundred habanero plants all in containers. I had more peppers than I knew what to do with. I dehydrated chingos. Ground up like you did, they are excellent in rib/fajita rubs and also great sprinkled on your food.

Oh FYI - if you get another batch, DON'T boil them in the house I almost killed everybody in the house last time I did. I took 5 lbs of habaneros cut in half, and boiled them in a big pot until they are soft (better to use a pressure cooker). Remove peppers & let it cool down. At the end you'll have a film on top of the water. Skim this film off and put in a little jar, discard the water. That film is pure concentrated capsaicin and is deadly. Just one drop smeared on a tamale is all you need!

Good to know. Once you get into capsaicin extract I'm out. I remember my old bottle of Blair’s 3am reserve. Stuff would kick you in the mouth.
I’m still thinking on the rib rub. Thought about dehydrating some fruit and grinding into a powder as a sweetener. Mango, pineapple, or even honey. I’m not to big on sweet and spicy, but I think the habanero needs something to balance it.

Amazing what a smoker can do to any kind of pepper or chile. Enjoy sparingly.
