I have a Remington youth model seven chambered in 243 that I want to reload for. What are some of your goto loads? I've always shot Federal 85gr with the Sierra GameKing BTHP. My son, daughter, wife and myself have dropped numerous deer and hogs over the years with it. I've ordered the same projectiles but not 100% sure of what powder I should use. Was thinking about IMR-4064. Thoughts? Recommendation?

Thanks

If you have any , try IMR 4895. My most accurate load is a 85 gr Sierra and 36 gr of that.

Using Sierra 85 BTHP, I have gotten good results with:

36.5-38gr I4064
36-37.5gr Varget
42-42.5gr I4350 (best group)
45gr Ramshot Hunter

IMR4064 would be a good powder especially since the Model Seven usually has the shorter barrel and the medium burn range powders will keep the Muzzle blast recoil a little lower.
For pure speed Superformance or 4000MR have worked well for me.

Varget. I shot 87 grain Bergers out of my Sako and they were super accurate. I’ve since switched to 95 SSTs but still using Varget

Thank you all, much appreciated. That'll give me a few powders to try and get my hands on. I was able to make a trade for some IMR-4064 so I will give that a go first.

The 85 grain Sierra Game King is all I shoot out of my 243 . I started out with 36 grains of 4064 I have since switched to 40 grains of H-4350 and have been really pleased with the results. Either one will work well and right now it will probably be easier to find 4064.

Imr 4895 is a good one with many different bullets, imr4350 is a good load too.
I played with h1000 a few times with some really nice results.

Only powder I have loaded 243 with is IMR 4350. It seemed to shoot better themore of it you put in there. I always loaded with 100 grain sierra prohunters, 100 grain partitions, or 100 grain hornady btsp's, but 40 grains of IMR 4350 shot all three very well.

My pet load is a 95gr SST over 35gr of Varget (max load, IIRC). Sub-MOA out of my stock 700 purchased new in 1999.
