Earlier this year I bought a CO small game license because my brother wants me to come up and do some pheasant hunting this fall. Since that counts as a "qualifying" license I decided to go ahead and put in for preference points for deer, elk, pronghorn and a CO bear tag for the Bosque de Oso WMA since I had 14 points. They issue 2 tags that are good for all the seasons in Oct and Nov and well, I pulled that bear tag. Bosque de Oso WMA has the highest bear density in the entire state of CO. So hopefully I will take my 3rd CO bear this fall.

Well apparently I’ll might be there oct 30-nov 7. I don’t know how, I wasn’t suppose to draw the swa tag.

Bobo-- did you get the tag you wanted or did you get an SWA only tag??

Long story short I got SWA tag but wanted my second choice archery in another unit it to go with my elk tag. Last year the SWA tag took 22 pts. Year before that 16, and 18 before that. I was using it as a PP code.

I can't find much history on the tag online. Going to call GF manager next week.

Talked to one guy that's bear hunted it and he thought deer population was good, saw lots of 150-160deer but no studs, but that was very early season.

If you know anyone that has had the 1st, 2nd or later tag I’d love to talk to them.

That is cool. Congratulations on the draw. I spent a day and half there looking for band tailed pigeons on one of my road trip bird hunting walkabouts. I am no help, but I did think it would be a great place to go back for a big game hunt.
