I bet with all the East Texas rain our roads took a beating from the heavy rains. Its going to be a few weeks before I can get to the lease to fill feeders. We have a couple of really bad spots, I bet they look like a stock tank in the middle of the road. One of these bad spots I have to drive through to get to one of my stands.

Thanks, Billy

When I hunted E Tx a very long time ago we didnt have to worry about puddles in our roads. We had about 3000 acres on the river and when it rained like this we would need a boat to get to the only 200ish acres that werent under water.

First 7 inches of rain came down in 4 hours. Rained again Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Needed it bad, but a lil' concerned here. Haven't been able to get in.

Sorry for a guy in Eastern Lasalle County to jump on an East TX thread, but this may well be a big issue for us.

I'll find out this weekend. Supposed to get another inch between now and Sunday. Won't be doing much driving around.

I can’t remember what year, maybe 1985. I lived in Corpus Christi and had a lease in Webb county. It rained a ton around opening season and it was a mess trying to set to the ranch. I recall trucks by the dozens in the ditch driving in one day.

The next year the place was dry as a bone with not a blade of grass or brush with a leaf one.

Thanks, Billy

Damn Hudbone, it's rained that much this week down south? Are you off 624 SE of Cotulla?

Drove down and couldn’t get in? Bummer, better than not being able to get out I guess.

I dont know 68... Depending on what you had going on back in civilization, being unable to get out may not be so bad.

5 miles out of Fowlerton on 97 and then about 4 miles in. Rain discrepancies between the front gate and our place can vary by several inches. Once they caught 3 1/2 at front gate and we only measured a 1/2.

No doubt about that sir.
Hell, my place is not much over a 1/4 mile long and most of the time our back fence (far east) gets a lot more than the front gate does.
I've seen it as much as 30-35% difference in some 500 yards. lol

Well I was gonna say it would depend on how many adult beverages were left in the cooler.

Copper Breaks State Park lost the culvert/bridge to the back half of the park, then lost the low water crossing to replace it, in the last couple months... they get short shafted from the state all the time on repairs.... while tpwd are buying up old politicians family lands for new state parks, they let some of the treasures rot

Glad you guys down there are getting some rain. We are swamped in East Tx. Where I stood launching my boat 11 days ago at Lake O' The Pines, now has over 7 feet of water over it. My yard needs mowing, but just walking across it squishes water up. Now they are calling for more rain Friday.

I bought land in Antlers Oklahoma.. I went sunday and drove a nearly 2 miles back, it was muddy but not bad. I backed into my place and spun the tires in 4x4 high. shifted to 4x4 low and got out. I couldn't believe it.

I've had my share of those moments. I got stuck on my lease in Webb County years back driving through a draw/creek whatever it was and ended up with one front tire on the ground and the opposite back tire on the ground at about a 45 degree angle, tilting to one side. How I got out was a miracle.

It aways seems it happens when you are by yourself too. Like the time I got my trailer stuck between two pine trees. Brush Country boy had a lot to learn about hunting around pine trees when I started hunting East Texas about 4-5 years back.

Thanks, Billy

How was the grass looking up thr? All this rain should definitely help the antler growth this year. I look for their to be records broke this year.

I usually put 6-10 loads of road base on my roads in different locations every year. In the washout areas I spread oversized road base. That's worked real well for me. But I own the ranch. That's a lot of cost for a lease. My ranch roads and creek crossings are (for the most part) in pretty good shape.

We have a really bad spot not far from camp. My guess it needs at least a cable dump ever how many tons that is of the big baseball sized blue rock the timber and oil companies use when they fix the roads. They fixed a few spots last year but never the one near our camp.

I’ll know in a couple of weeks.

Thanks, Billy
