I live on the outskirts of town near Victoria Texas. This morning a pair of quail walked past my window and continued on towards the pasture.
This is a welcome sign for this year.

I've seen quail twice at the lease in Concho County this year.

I saw a covey in town last week, it was surprising to see them since it is in an area that the homeless hangout.

Rare one for sure. I saw a single around Jacksboro a few weeks ago.

Glad you have some Quail. In East Texas, I haven't heard one in the last 10 years.

I think the fire ants have pretty much done away with them.

I heard one, and later saw one, at a friend's place 4 years ago outside Jefferson.

Yep, if I saw a quail on my ranch I'd make him a sandwich or something but I'd never shoot it. Fire ants wiped them out here years ago.
