I live near New Orleans Louisiana. Tree ducks are all over our area near a park by my house. A few months ago I shot some video of them lined up on the bank of a drainage canal. You should be able to hear them whistling in the video as a drive by. They are there by the thousands. They love living in the suburbs.

They’re thick in Crosby - I guess they’re just not that interesting to me

Saw a couple on Lake Fork this weekend. Been a while since I have seen any so it was a pleasant surprise.

I see them almost everyday on Sandlin. They are pretty, orange bills & legs.

I have been trying for the last few years to get Tree Ducks added to the limit of the special teal season in September. We see more of them during the teal season than we do in the big duck season. Unfortunately the USFWS bureaucracy could care less about what goes on in the field and will not allow it to happen despite tree duck numbers increasing substantially over the last ten years.

They were thick last year in N.C. , they aren't supposed to be any where close to us.
Have only seen a few so far this year. Forrest

They'll nest just about anywhere. Cavity - ground - it doesn't matter.

They migrate early, not being very cold tolerant. I would love it if they were added to a legal take during teal season, if only so I could add one more waterfowl species to my life list of game taken!

You can hunt them early, you just need your Tree Duck tags. They are on sale now at walmart.

We have a few around Comal co. , but nothing like that.

They love the grain elevators on the MS River. I lived in Metairie and worked in Harahan for a few years. They would fly over every morning and evening by the 100s. Between the Audubon zoo and the canals they basically pile in anywhere to rest after feeding.

We have had those in Abilene this Spring. Had one at bird feeder in my back yard a week ago. My neighbor north of me has them at their bird feeders. Now that my tank is full I expect more ducks to show up.
