Any one ever use trophy rock?? I got 2 12lb blocks for free from a neighbor.

I plan on setting them out on our lease in west Texas next weekend.

Just wondering if any one has any reviews or pictures of deer actually actively using them.

Depends on where you are. They are about 93% salt and my ranch is in the Brazos river basin which has very salty water, so they don't need to lick them here. They get enough salt just from drinking the lake and pond water.

We tried trophy Rock for the past 2-3 years in West Texas and had 0 success.
We put them on some rebar/t-post to get them up off the ground and high enough
to keep out of the reach of the hogs but the deer would not touch them. Months later
they would be a little smaller due to the rain that washed on them but our cameras
showed the deer just didn't want them. So we quit putting them out. I put one out in a
place in Oklahoma on the ground and the deer licked it every day. Crazy how it worked there but not
on our hunting place in West Texas. Just an FYI on our experience. Maybe you will have better luck.

I’m not to worried if they work or not since I got them for free. If they use them that’s great if not then at least I know the herd isn’t hurting for those minerals!

I've tried TR at various locations over the past 15 or so years with mixed reaction depending on location. Central TX (Burnet/Lampasas/Williamson counties) the deer seem to really be attracted to them, lick them slick within a few weeks. SW from Ozona (Crockett), they seem to care less most of the time but certain times of the year they really get after it usually late spring into early summer. East TX (Freestone) the hogs tear them up, sulfur salt blocks too and root up large holes around those locations.

Never tried the TR, but I usually use the Big&J cube or the Wildgame Innovations Acorn Rage. The deer in my area (West of Sonora) really like it. It usually won’t last longer than a week or two. No science behind my selection other than they both have corn mixed into the block. I figured at the very least that would help. Has been good for me for the past 7 years.

I’m up in the Scurry, Borden & Garza County area. It’ll be interesting to see what happens.

Have used them a lot in Arkansas and Oklahoma. The deer and pigs tear them up. I used to have a video of a yearling deer gnawing on one while I was in my tree stand. She was there a good 10+ minutes.

One thing I will say, it does take the deer a bit to find them. Once they do, however, it’s game on! Put out a couple randomly in one place I hunt during September. By the end of October, there were three well defined trails that all met at that spot and the blocks were down to nubs.

Tried it on a lease in Scurry and didn't have much luck. But we were feeding protein and that supplied all of the trace minerals they needed.

Trophy Rock works and works well

I actually put out the 44# Redmond Salt Blocks and #10 fine salt----I have 4 areas on my place and they get hammered daily (especially during the summer months)

I use a mix of dicalcium phosphate, range mineral, and stock salt worked into the ground. After I refresh it I drop a trophy rock on top to keep them coming. Working so far. If there is not a lot of natural salt in your area they should hit it this time of year when there is plenty of green vegetation to browse.

Trophy Rock is just natural rough dug rock salt. Used to used it a lot in Idaho for deer/elk/moose , when it was legal. Never seen a place or situation where it didn’t work well. Would by it at the local trucking center where they sold coal, cinders, salt, etc. paid $200 a ton then, before the popularity of pink Himalayan salt drove prices to a dollar a pound

Dig a 3 foot diameter hole to contain the rock, pour 5 gallons of water in over it, and let it work. In a week, you’ll be able to bury a truck in the hole!!!

On my lease in Eastland county they work great.
I normally go through 4 12lb TR blocks at each of my feeder pen Locations each year.

Have used it with good results,
agree with other posts,
Location plays roll, deer like a variety in their diet..
Best results been during the warmer months...
Put it out on a well used trail, set up a cam..
Seen new type rock @ Runnings now...

Gonna give it a try set up a cam...
