Grew up in the country, no street lights or ice cream trucks, plenty of lightning bugs and the tire swing you could get high but the tree never lifted off the ground. I was the remote control to change volume or change channels between the 2 we got from our antenna on the roof.

Pick up baseball in the vacant lot. A ball hit over the fence was an out. Pickup tackle football was twobelow on the concrete. Flys and skinners or hotbox. Best drink you ever had was out of the outdoor faucet. Hell, we were all in shape before little league tryouts ever started.

Yep, also jumped off the top of a 2 story barn with a bed sheet as a parachute.

Some of you think, that's just an old cotton trailer. To us growing up, it had many uses. Main use for us, in spring and summer, it was our travel trailer. Us kids camped out in it. Didn't have to worry about coyotes, raccoons, skunks, bobcats, snakes, or any other creature of the night getting you. Only mosquitos...

It was only years later, after having kids of my own, my parents, in all their infinite wisdom, were using those cotton trailers as giant playpens for a handful of hyperactive, rowdy adolescents

As a young'un, we grew up on a street called 'Tin Can Ally' and it was across from the cotton gin. We would play for hours in them, when filled with cotton, parked in front of the yard waiting to be ginned. Good memories

Bill, I guess that makes you a cotton picker. I ran an old John Deere cotton stripper, only pulled 2 rows at a time. Of course, dad had me working at the gin too. Ran the suction and also made sure the hull auger didn't load up. OSHA would have had a heyday back then.

Barefooted, only wore shoes to church and school. I could run across a sticker patch no problem. Heck, I can't even walk out in the yard without hobbling around like the town drunk. I only wore cutoff jeans, shorts were a luxury we couldn't afford.

Yelp Tbar that's why they like me to donate some skin in the Dr."s office every year. Was fun but paying the price now.
