That's me... this has been nagging me for awhile (emails about every 10 days when they have more in-stock), so I finally pulled out the plastic and had one sent to me. Extar EP9 Polymer upper/lower, takes Glock mags, 6.5" threaded barrel, uses AR15 trigger group and grip. Weighs 4.1 lbs with the SOB brace. Range time next week, but so far I like it a good bit (better to me than the Sub 2000).

I'm curious how long after you got the email did you buy it? I get the emails too, but invariably by the time I click on the link - boom it's out of stock again. Earl

I happened to be looking at my phone when the email arrived, so I clicked over right away... They do sell out fast, and I'm not sure how many they make available each time.

I've had one for a while. Couple thousand rounds through it without a single issue. I have a little holosun reflex sight on it. I like the 33rd mags. It's easy to shoot little 6" steel circles at 100 to 150 yds offhand. It's a lot of value for the $$.

I had never shot one of these til I went over to a buddy's house a while back. He had a suppressor on his...and dang if that thing isn't about as much fun as you can have with clothes on.

Not exactly.
It does use AR hammer/trigger, but the recoil buffer is different, as is the bolt (two-piece~bolt plus weight) and the slide/carrier stays in place when bolt comes out.
Hand-guard and buffer tube attachment are proprietary, but Farrowtech offers an adapter that allows AR buffer tubes, and there are at least two other hand-guards out there (one aluminum, one polymer)
It does have a functional last round bolt hold open as well... and it's much lighter than an AR 9mm.

Why go with this instead of an AR-9?
Genuine question.

Why go with this instead of an AR-9?
Genuine question. Most AR-9s are at least 750-800 bucks. This is $450. A lot of more affordable AR-9s I've seen do not have the last round bolt hold open. The extar is affordable, accurate, and works extremely well. For a range toy/plinker, and small game PCC, it's extremely handy. I didn't feel the need to spend a 800-1000 on a 9mm PCC. I bought my EP9, a sling, mini reflex sight, and a ton of Glock mags for less than a PSA AR-9.

Wish I hadn't opened this thread as I want one now. Luckily I'm so busy right now I wouldn't even have time to pick it up.

Text me if you decide the S2K has to go in favor of the new toy.
