Any body? Do they just have an attitude, or will they be corrected? Dude is getting a shock collar tomorrow and will maintain or the beep will bite and I hate to bring pain to a dog, but he cannot think it is OK to bite or jump on someone

Its been my experience that lab and GSP puppy's are extremely mouthy and will chew anything they can get a hold of. That desire is most extreme when they are bored. Personally until about 1 yr old I give them more toys and balls than they know what to do with. Hoping that their attention will be diverted from non sanctioned chewing devices. The jumping up on people has been fixed with training and the occasional knee to the breast bone. Mostly they are just so overcome with excitement they forget their manners.

No experience with doodles. How old is your dog? Jumping on people is something almost every dog tries and has to be taught what is acceptable in obedience. Same thing with being mouthy. During the period a puppy loses its puppy teeth and it’s dog teeth are coming in is usually the zenith. Dogs with a lot of natural retrieve are often worse. If you are not aware of the things I mentioned, you and your dog would benefit from an experienced trainer to mentor your training. Buying an e-collar and just slapping it on the dog and pushing buttons is bad. Very bad.

If you had mentioned the age of the dog it would have been helpful.

when i looked a few years ago golden/ labra/ any doodle wasnt really being bred along testing lines. You can find plenty of trainers who will work with them though!

Where are you located?

Mine will retrieve decoys and swim fetch all day with nearly perfect recall. He is extremely predator driven and actually tries to retrieve shotgun waddings, as an example of how non-gun shy he is. That said there are different tiers of hunting dogs so I'm not saying he's flawless and this will be the first season I have a layout boat that will accommodate him. Just saying op shouldn't throw in the towel yet by any means.

This is good advice. Sounds like you need training and the dog needs training.

Teaching a dog anything - whether it's a puppy or an older dog requires consistency.

If you're dog is jumping up and you're saying "down, no, off, don't jump" you're going to confuse the dog. A knee to chest and a firm no - repeatedly - will break the behavior. Simple - firm - consistent.

Shock collars are not meant to "teach" a dog anything. Shock collars are meant to reinforce known commands that the dog is choosing to ignore - IMO.

Shocking a dog that has zero clue what it is actually doing wrong ain't going to do nothing but create a bad behaving dog.

You say pup, just how old is this pup you have. I sitting here with a 15 month old Golden Doodle laying across my feet now. Her favorite place to sleep. This is our second one and i think they are one of the best dogs for our home. Lost the one we had for 15 yrs last year. This one is a world of difference from the other. They are gun dogs and with patience make excellent retrievers. I started of shooting around this one and she has never paid much attention to a 22 or shotgun, Have patience with the dog but be firm. Shocking collars are not much help on one that has not been trained. Would not recommend one. Mine is starting to show some signs of maturity finally. Good luck.

Your getting some good advice here. If at all possible, take the dog to work and work with it every minute of the day. Manners are taught by repetition, they have to be taught their limits.

They make ammo specifically for hunting for a reason! nidea
