My son is wanting to go this year, and I’ve lost access to the farm we use to hunt. I’ve found a few public ground areas that allow dove hunting , one is a youth hunting only place. How crowded do these places get? The 3 I was looking at are south of Dallas by about an hour or so.

I've hunted public dove fields around Houston the last 4 years or so, so not the fields you're looking at but every year has been pretty consistent. Avoid opening weekend and the fields wont be crowded. Opening weekend is what you think of when you think of public hunting in Texas, a war zone & overcrowded. Second weekend will likely have hunters on them, but not nearly as much & reasonably well spaced out. By the third weekend typically it's only a few people. If you can hunt during the week you'll probably have the place to yourself.
