If you wanted to take your son on a fishing trip and his only requirement is tons of action, where would you go within a few hours of Houston and who would you fish with?

There was once a booking service out of Galveston.

Joe Frazier Sargent or Blake Trevino west bay to surf side. If you want contact info pm me. They are top notch and have fished with them.

I dont think it matters along as we are catching and not sitting. That is why I was thinking crappie, sand bass, that sort of thing.

Galveston jetties and let him tug on some real fish, no freshwater minnow stuff.

I hear a young guy on the radio "Sharky" Marquez - Outcast Fishin' Charters. Never been, but he seems professional and reputable.

I know you said Tawakoni was too far but for fast action fishing i can’t think of a better place with a reputable guide like was recommended. I suggest Matt Cartwright 214-415-0166. Sand Bass until your tired and usually a limit on Hybrid/Striper.

Port O’Connor bay fishing. captain Ron Arlitt. 361-564-0958. Not up to speed to sand bass fishing where you catch a fish every cast, but still very impressive. Reds and Specs on the menu with many others thrown in. We always get our limit plus sheep’s head and black drum.

You're about 2 months late. Next year, book a white bass trip for early to mid-March. Most fun a kid can have fishing right there.

Little John also guides out of Port O'Connor but I don't know what dates. Out of Galveston Michael recommends Wave Dancer. I went with Wave Dancer last year and they were awesome. We did the jetty trip and it was non stop action.

You were asking about Cedar Creek, Tawakoni isn’t much farther and has better guides that will give you what you’re asking for. Fish where you want but don’t complain later

You can not plan saltwater fishing too far ahead because the wind conditions are too iffy.

According to your Guide and Boat. It blows everyday down there.

Very true last couple weeks a couple afternoon trips didn’t materialize due to wind.

He has caught sails, marlin and tuna. Just looking for some fishing with more action, less waiting.

Thanks for the recommendation.

You will be looking for reds and specks at the Galveston jetties. Might get mostly sheepshead and drums.
