Anybody use creatine?

I lift 3x a week, kickbox twice, and do bjj 3-5 times a week. I eat clean mostly and drink whey protein after my morning workout.

Would creatine benefit muscle growth and energy? Have been reading about it, looking for input on experience with it.

Thanks

used it in high school. Saw mild strength gains, can increase muscle size due to the way it works ( forces water into the cells )

I wouldn't count me out on ever using it again, but its not going to make you put on a huge amount of size.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish from it?

I don't want to get huge my goal is to improve performance in strength, endurance, and recovery. Improving grappling endurance would be my main goal.

Yes, but it's a supplement. It's a small percentage gain in recovery which helps with energy and strength.

How much sleep you getting, melatonin might help more if you aren't getting a solid 7 hours.

What’s your age? Creatine in and of itself won’t make you huge.....you have to do pharmaceutical grade stuff for that.

It may be noticeable the difference it makes though. Be sure to stay hydrated

Personally I see more benefit from a test booster. I currently use Nugenix Ultimate stacked with a high quality ZMA

I can definitely tell when I am in the off cycle time.

I took a ton of it along with a ton of other things, some legal and a lot not so much but to answer your question yes, I noticed a definite gains while on it in stamina and energy during work outs and more so recovering from work outs. I used it for roughly 15 years for intense 2-4 hour daily work outs, it all really depends on how far you want to push the envelope. Just know one day you will be older and your joints won’t like you very much any more hammer

I would look into nugenix ultimate. Works for me, I’m a few years under than you at 35. Creatine is fine to take along side of it

I’ve heard that Because of diet and other “ environmental factors” that an average 35 year olds T-Levels today are about the same as a 65 year old mans from 25 years ago.

Another huge T booster is sunlight. Get outside, take your shirt off and sun your chest and back. Absorb that vitamin D.

I started in Feb this year. Started out thinking it might be fun to try in addition to my other workouts, it's my favorite now. I'm getting smashed by higher belts every time, but my goal is to learn. I can see small increases that tell me I'm learning, that' s the fun part for me. My 6 yo daughter is learning too.

I believe it actually hinders endurance type activities, as previously stated water is stored at the cellular level creating the "buff" appearance but causes dehydration issues. Also some GI effects.......

That’s fantastic! Stick with it, it’s hard but it’s worth it.

Just a quick warning. I was hitting the gym heavy and often last year. Creatine daily and bcaa and a stimulant pre-workout. It would really help by drive in the gym and I could lift heavier and longer. BUT, it came with a side effect I didn't know about. Its called stimdick. Started having a problem staying...erect. took a bit to figure out the issue. Once I cut out the pre-workout mix it went away. Its a little embarrassing, especially when I first experienced the issue the first time my girlfriend and was going to have sex, but I'm willing to put my embarrassment out there in the.hopes of helping one of my fellow thfers who may experience the same thing. Just keep it in mind if the issue comes up as a possible cause and easy fix.

what pre-workout was this?

I haven't taken any pre-workout in about 6 years but when I was taking it routinely I was banging my GF like a Drum in the Macy's day parade. I've never heard of any pre-workout causing ED nor known about anyone having problems with it.

edit:

Google searched it and it turns out it is a real side effect. Thats crazy it seems to be common with pre-workouts containing DMAA. Buyer Beware

Would be interested in which brand as well. I'm very selective about what pre workout I'll use but I've taken many over the years and never had an issue. I always heard about stimdick from guys who were shooting roids or taking SARMS, both of which have a long list of negative side effects, including ED.

Txtrophy, interesting! One of the best pre-workouts I ever tried was called Mesomorph. It contained DMAA. It was insane stuff, but worked well. I never had any issues with it, but the FDA banned DMAA a short time after I discovered it because some people were having heart issues from excessive dosing. I always followed the directions and did the recommended cleanse period after finishing a container.

At the time I was taking

Pre-Caged. Preworkout mix
Creatine
BCAA

Cut out the preworkout and it solved the problem. Just something to be aware of if the problem arises(or doesn't arise as the case may be, lol)

Back when I used to lift, I took creatine and noticed that I could get an extra 1 or 2 reps per set. Take that for what it’s worth. As was stated, it forces water into the cells and you do get a nice pump effect from it.

I took creatine years ago along with several buddies, don't care for it. As mentioned, due to the way it works your muscles will get pumped up (with water) and you'll make gains....but you'll also lose those gains fast if you don't stay on it.

I prefer to build more solid/lean/stronger (more permanent) muscle mass now vs just big gains. Besides eating right, Frog Fuel is what I use as a pre-workout and for recovery. It's good stuff and it works for me. I have injuries in both shoulders and other places, and I can definitely feel how much better I recover/heal when taking Frog Fuel. Kinda pricey but it made a believer out of me.
