Ran one for over 20 years with my parents. I will never have those 20 years worth of 4th of July's, Christmases, and new years back. I cuss them every chance I get. When times were good we made some money on it. When its dry etc. it wasn't great.

I wouldn't do it again. It did help pay for a lot of things that are near and dear to my heart, and since we started doing it when I was a kid it was a good way for me to earn some cash learned working as a cashier, taking in inventory, returning inventory, loaded a hell of a lot of truck etc. Im sure some good experiences, but it isnt for me.

If you are in a good spot chances are a firework company would pay you to let them put a stand on it or pay you to not allow a competitor to put a stand on it.

I have a buddy with one. He has teenagers run it and pulls down some serious scratch.

The land owner of the lease I’m on in-laws have had a stand in Winters for 20 yrs. They went to place their order with USA Fireworks as usual and were told that they would not be selling any fireworks to independent stands this year. The reason they were given was USA Fireworks was having a hard time getting fireworks therefore they were only selling to their stands. This was at the beginning of April so I think trying this late might be bad for this July.

I read somewhere that most, as in almost all of the US fireworks come from China.

In a good location you can make some money.

An oil field brother and friend of mine in Louisiana sold fireworks as a side job for years. Started with one trailer then expanded to many.

He ended up getting robbed and lost all profits from several years of selling. This man was/is solid muscle and a beast in real life like you've never seen.

None of that matters when the bad guy is armed and you are not.

Protect.

Always had my CC on me once I had it. Before we kept a pistol and shotgun under the counter. When you have 20-50K cash laying around its nice to be armed. Only time we ever had an issue was after we closed some drunk teens broke in one night. I was a young teen and I remember dad busting open the travel trailer door in his tighty whiteys with the 870 in hand. I dont know if he fired a shot in the air or just racked the action, but them kids hauled azz off in probably their mommas mini van as fast as it would go.

my in-laws used to lease out some of their highway frontage to a fireworks stand, they paid good money for the location and my in-laws didn't do anything but provide the location.

I had a friend that had 4 daughters, all in girl scouts. their troop ran a fireworks stand as a fund raiser where various families were assigned different times. Just parked their pop-up camp trailer there to stay in for the 2 weeks of sales twice a year. They made decent money but it was a toll on their personal time.

one of my first jobs was working in a snow cone stand. That sat beside a large roadside fruit & vegetable stand. My brother and I split working 1/2 days for both stands. I don't know if there was much money to be made, but I do know that if you eat/drink enough coconut snow cone syrup, your stool will be bright blue loser8

All I know is the mark up on fireworks is worse than jewelry. A friend at work years ago had a seasonal stand near my house. My wife's family had a place on a lake and would shoot fireworks off the dock every 4th. One year I caught him early enough and asked if I could "piggy back" an order when he placed his for the season, he said "Sure! How much you want to purchase?". I said about $100 worth at wholesale cost. He told me to bring my truck. This was in about '95 or '96. For $100.00 at wholesale price he stuffed that 8-foot bed with fireworks of all sorts.

Had a buddy. His stand helped him put three daughters through college.
But as soon as the last one graduated, he sold the stand. Made some money though.

What the heck, go for it.
That's the only way you'll know.
