Dewberries:
Look what nature provided for me. There is a dry creek running through my backyard and the whole hillside is covered with these. Noticed the thorny plants a couple of years ago well they must have matured this year. It takes 3-4 years for them to produce.

yes, dew berries grow lower to the ground and have bigger seeds.

Blackberries are hybrids. Dewberries are the result, usually, of birds eating and spreading seeds. They don't regrow as the parent plant.

Mom used to pick them and make wine.
