The other night, while working a job just north of Stanton, we had a pretty decent storm threatening us from a distance to the north. I was lucky enough to get some lightning shots with my phone, but I never could have imagined I’d catch a shooting star with it.

I was watching the thunderhead with my phone pointed at it, trying to time the lightning. I had just snapped a photo and looked up in time to see a shooting star fade out. That’s always an event to appreciate, but I couldn’t help but feel disappointed that I didn’t see it in time to get a photo. Then it occurred to me that my last picture just may have captured the shooting star before I saw it burn out. Sure enough, it did. It isn’t much to look at. It’s more about having done it, to me, than the quality of the photo. I went back through the rest of the pictures and even studied the sky to make sure it wasn’t an actual star.

I think this was Monday or Tuesday. I’m on a Pioneer frac.

Seems like every time a storm rolls through this area a few tanks get blown up.
