Is there a difference between the large heads they use for septic sprinklers vs the smaller design for yard irrigation? My septic sprinklers are nothing but a PIA and I’m tired of messing with them. The yard sprinklers I have are very easy to adjust and don’t allow grass roots to grow inside and brake the gears.

No, when I had septic I replaced them with regulars. It was a rent house so IDGAF so take that into consideration. You do not live in a 1,400sf rent house though...

What’s happening to them? I’ve had no issues with either. Both are made by rainbird, at least the ones I use.

Just thinking but the poop ones are a much higher volume than the lawn sprinklers meaning smaller orifices than on poop sprinkler. We all know that is supposed to be “clean water” but now your betting on it no plugging up.

Septic heads are labeled purple for people that don’t know any better.
Check the flow rates on what you have versus what you want to use.....too much back pressure on the pump could cause it to fail prematurely.
My rotor heads on my aerobic have been flawless.
If they are clogging, I would begin using something like septic saver to help with the solids, and/or have your second tank cleaned out.

Mine stay stuck up all the time. They fix them when they inspect it , but then they get stuck in the up position after a few days. I don`t care as long as it sprays out.

Mine have the screw that adjust the spray and they have always worked flawlessly except the one I chopped up with the lawnmower but they came and replaced it.Mine don't have any gears as they work just like lawn sprinklers.

They are a RainBird head. They have roots entering the body from underground, I keep the grass around the top killed with RoundUp. The roots are stopping them from raising up, stopping them from turning when spraying, in general just destroying the damn things. I don’t have this issue with regular lawn sprinklers. They aren’t getting clogged from debris from the tank.

I thought the volume of water may affect the pump, so upon inspection I noticed the poop sprayers have a 1/2 inch riser pipe while the lawn sprayers use a 3/4. Both spray the same distance. This was my concern and why I made this thread.

There is a plastic nut low on the side of the sprinkler, possibly it is missing?

Two of mine are the 2045ANP and they froze open during the freeze but thawed out and are still ticking.

[Linked Image]

You can use the regular 2045A just make sure you insert the blue nozzle.

Note the plastic nut.

They all have the plastic but still in place.

I’m replacing all of them tomorrow with regular heads. I’m tired of this [censored]

OK,I finally understand where the roots are coming from but look at the ones you are replacing with and look for small holes at or near the bottom. All sprinklers have holes for water to drain and that is where your roots are coming in.See the small slots in the pic below ? that is a Rain bird sprinkler head taken apart, your roots are entering in these slots. The round hole is for the water pipe.

Ingenious design. That explains a lot and I’ve never noticed that due to being covered in mud. They are being switched out for regular style heads. Thanks
cheers

BigPig, be sure to look at the ones you are replacing with as they probably have drain holes also.

I think they all do.

You'd think a $0.10 piece of landscape fabric would come glued to the bottom/across the holes from the factory to nip that issue in the bud.

They very well may, but I’ve never had a lawn sprinkler get clogged up like these damn poop sprayers

Use the Rainbird Maxi Paws impact rotors. They won't clog up like a traditional rotor will over time.

We always string trim around them so we don't run into the problem you describe

This screen shot was taken from a Rain Bird Maxi-Paw that quit working and the guy was replacing the innards below. The Maxi-Paws have slots in them as Rain Bird mostly uses the same outside housing on lots of their sprinklers it seems.Just like the shot I posted above.

I just poison the 4 inches around it. The damn roots are from under ground. No way to prevent that
