It was 15 degrees when we made this first call of the morning. I was on the gyp all the way while Steve was on the huge male that took a straight line to the Rogue. I made a clean "off camera" kill and Steve got great video of the male.
Adios,
Gary

I was up there for four days. First morning was 12 and then the next three were 15. Everyday started really calm but wind was up by 10:00 AM and the dogs were basically finished. Next to last afternoon, the wind laid just about sundown and I made a call where a pair rolled in so fast that I did not handle it well.
I have never seen coyotes that consistently spooked when I attempted to bark them to a stop, but these did...
Adios,
Gary

Jealous! I spent a few hours driving through NM on 40 and kept looking at all the land and dreaming of calling coyotes on it.

Great pic.

Know what you mean about the cold.

Went on a late season Mule Deer hunt one year (archery) it was 11°F the first morning and not much better the rest of the trip.

Not used to that kind of cold here in Texas.

Saw tons of Coyotes and Mulies.

Actually the coldest I was this winter was in the Texas Panhandle. I looked at the weather forecast before I left Menard and it showed lows in the high 30's and warming to the low 60's. The third day of the hunt a cold front blew in and it was misting rain. Winds were gusting to 30 mph and it was 25 degrees. I am not sure what the chill factor was but my T shirt and lightweight jacket weren't nearly enough...and no long johns.
Adios,
Gary
