I've been loading my own ammo except rimfire for 45 years. In the 70's when I started, I never imagined I would be paying 40 cents a round for 22 magnum ammo, let alone 19 cents apiece for small pistol primers, both of which I found myself uncomfortably low on. Yet, I have done exactly that this month and searched a long time to get both at these prices. Things, I hope, will eventually calm down somewhat but for now, I know my family and myself have what we need to keep us supplied with ammo till it does.

I feel your pain! I also have been reloading since the seventies and never in my wildest dreams thought I would see these prices for reloading components !

Academy near my house has tons of 22 mag at 30 cents a round. Let me know if you want me to pick up some.

I couldn't find any in towns near me, I live in the sticks, so I wound up overpaying online. It is what it is but I do appreciate the offer.

Absolutely. I've ordered brass and bullets ahead of time (if they would take the order), and they would have to sell it to me at the new price. I've never seen it like tis before. This period will certainly go down in history as the most demand in ammo ever seen.

These are crazy times we live in. That being said as a retired volunteer fireman, if all this ammo is being horded, then when there is a house fire, its going to get very interesting and dangerous when or if that ammo starts cooking off. Yall be careful out there.

Guess I'm kind of fortunate. I have had on hand for several years, enough reloading components to load several hundred rounds for every gun I own. And enough lead to cast maybe a thousand handgun bullets. I even sold a couple thousand primers to a friend a few months ago.
A clear conscience is often the sign of a fuzzy memory.

I’m going to be in a bind in a few months on primers. I’ve let a lot go that I don’t use to people who needed them but I’m down to under 500 on the ones I use the most.

I am still pretty good on most stuff, but it is going to be AR components (especially 6.5 Grendel) that get me. I do lots of pig damage control shooting and I have been rolling through Benchmark and CCI 450 pretty hard.
I have done a little bit of selective trading here and there. Not a lot, and trying to keep it very fair for both sides. Most large rifle stuff I am in really good shape on and have some to spare (even by my standards, lol). May end up having to trade some CCI 200 for 450's, or some H4350 for Benchmark or 8208.

Been reloading since 1995. Like all others I have never seen anything like this. Fortunately, I worked by the Hornady factory for years so I had more bullets than I could ever shoot. I even sold a couple of toolboxes full to a dealer at a gun show a few weeks ago. I kept what I will need to last me through what’s left of my shooting days. I sold them at my cost + 10%. I sold what I would never use. He will be able to at least double his money. We both knew exactly what we were doing. We both left happy. No one got screwed. This has gotten out of control and if it doesn’t come back to reality, it will drive a ton of people out of recreational shooting. I know, for now, I only shoot the calibers I intend to hunt with in the fall. If in a couple of years it doesn’t return to semi normal, all of my “fun to shoot” guns will be sold and I’ll drop down to just my favorites. Just my .02.
