Exactly.

As far as I know, those SLAP rounds are made for the M2 machine gun. I have only ever seen them in linked ammunition. The M2 can probably soak all that up just fine. I don’t imagine a dedicated .50 cal sniper rifle would be very effective when you start changing loads up but they are very cool smile

Praise God you came out of that alive. I thought for sure you’d be missing a few fingers after that one. Nearly died but came out OK!

Despite his claims, no way to know if the round was over pressured, had a problem with the sabot and brake to cause over pressure, if there was damage to the gun from the previous SLAP round(s) being fired, or if there was a defect in the gun.

I suspect baffle strike that left a chunk of the previous bullet for the next round to hit and blow back all that pressure into the chamber and his face. One lucky dude.

I posted this on the other threads and I haven't seen anyone mention it:
What was the thing that flew forward when he closed the gun at 3:17? It flew forward and bounced off the table as he closed the action. It may or may not have had anything to do with the kaboom, but it definitely looked like it flew from the gun when he closed the action.

I tried slowing it down and it's still too fast to tell for sure, but it looks like it comes from under the action and bounces off the table flying forward.

That was a butterfly or moth of some kind, right a 3:17 you can see it enter the frame from behind him.

Yeah, I watched it in slow motion and came to the same conclusion. My original theory was obviously garbage. roflmao

If you shoot a 50 and use surplus ammo, be careful.

And some people are afraid of hand loads.

Extreme example here of how hand loads are often far safer. Of course there are rare exceptions, but most guys that follow the rules make very safe ammo.

Wear eye and ear pro, they saved this man's eye.

Potential overpressure due to slap plastic barrel obstruction/residue

Apparently that was his guardian angel flying in just in time to keep him with us.

I shot one once. It functioned properly and still hurt my face and body. I'm all for folks having the right to own one, but I would never waste my money on it.
