Like I said in my lion video post, work sent me to Arizona after Texas so that's where I do my hunting now. I thought some of you might enjoy seeing coatis (also called coatimundis) since most people have never heard of them. I set this trail camera for bears, but this was the only creature I ended up getting besides javelina. We have a good amount of coatis in Southern Arizona and New Mexico.

Very cool animals and awesome game cam video

Thanks for sharing

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

I worked a few shutdowns at a plant in Southeastern Mexico that had lots of Coatis in the surrounding woods. They had a 10' tall chain link fence with concertina wire on top all around the plant to keep them out. They said they played heck on the electrical wires on the equipment. Neat looking critters for sure.

I've heard them referred to as racoons that work the day shift.

Saw 2 (or the same one twice) in Scurry County about 15 years ago. Didn't know what I'd seen until I looked it up.

When my wife and I honeymooned south of Cancun, we had a coati that would come to our back patio and look for handouts at the resort. Pretty cool animals.

I called one in about 13 years ago in Bee county. Mid day, daytime bobcat calling thick brush country. It came out and I had no friggin clue what it was. I had to go hop on the interwebs when I got home. IT came right in, didn't stay long but was only 10 feet from me. Cool looking critters. This video is neat! Thanks for sharing.

If I’m not mistaken your hunting license lets you take one per year.

Thanks for watching. That’s cool you called one in. I’ve seen some footage of guys calling like a young critter and the coatis came in really pissed off. Must’ve thought it was one of their own.

I’m sure folks don’t eat them , so they are considered a varmint or something?

I don't think they're varmint because the bag limit is one. I have heard of them being eaten. Saw Randy Newberg and his crew cook one up on TV once. It's not something I hear about often though. I think most people want a mount/hide.
