This cat responded to the Rogue about 2:00 PM one day last week. I named her "Slim" for obvious reasons. She made a 180 around Old Jack and the ultrasonic caller. SteveO captured over 7 minutes of video of her before I spooked her when killing a coyote that no one saw but "Your Truly".

Old momma definitely needs to find a few rabbits or gophers and fatten up some.

I am curious as to why she was given a pass?

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

We were videoing and photographing all the cats on this hunt. I wanted to study how the cats would respond to the ultrasonics and the only way to do so, is to let them walk. Cats have extremely sensitive hearing (can hear to 64,000 Hz) while coyotes hear to about 45,000 Hz. The Rogue caller peaks at approximately 45,000-47,000 Hz. All of the other electronic callers on the market today or back to the 1950's peak at less than 20,000. Since all distress sounds I have recorded and tested have gone over 40,000 Hz, I wanted to see if the realistic sounds wound cause them to react differently. Here is what I have observed so far...
The cats are responding much more aggressively to the call and seem to be much more relaxed even when in the openings. They want to get very close to the source of the sound to investigate. They are hanging around WAY longer than ever before. We called three cats and they averaged staying over 10 minutes each. This one was spooked off by me shooting a coyote after 7 plus minutes of video.
I am going to continue to allow several more cats to walk over the next few months as I test different sounds and see how they react. I will say that I have an ultrasonic recording that seems to really excite the felines but want to test it on a few more subjects before I tell you what it is.
Thanks and Adios,
Gary

Any of you remember the Chicken Ranch?

Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill

Beautiful cat!

A Democracy is when two wolves and a lamb vote on the dinner menu. That is why this country was specifically not designed as a Democracy. We are a Constitutional Republic.

Great information and thank you very much for sharing.
Amazing how long they are sticking around to that call.

I do like the bobcats but we've been overrun with them at our little place and they tend to get very, very brave at times coming all the way up to the house with me on the back porch and taking a laying hen only 20' from me one time. I leave them alone if they stay in the pasture but once they start taking momma's hens they find themselves in trouble at our place. lol
They do a pretty good job of catching the dang gophers we gotten inundated with recently so that is one reason I typically give them a pass. Coyotes go to meet their maker on sight every time!

I am not letting any coyotes have a pass, if I did, I would loose my invite to hunt the ranch. This rancher does not care if I kill the cats and I feel that it is very important for me to study their behavior with the ultrasonics to see if there are certain patterns or consistencies. Anyone that is around cats will tell you that if there is anything consistent about a cat, is that they are inconsistent. I must say that being able to keep them close and in the wide open has given me the ability to see how they react to certain stimuli. Since I have been doing this for 60 years and supposedly somewhat knowledgeable about the subject, it is only natural that I feel it is important to observe these beautiful critters. Hopefully the knowledge I gain and document will make all who want to call cats be more successful.
Besides, I have killed hundreds of cats and must admit that I am enjoying the observations.
Adios,
Gary

One of two things is happening. Either Bill has lost his marbles just like Pres B, or he just likes to post random crap on every thread to get peoples reactions. I have noticed that his stuff is getting even more random than usual. confused2

We have placed a PO for 3,000 units and have paid in advance for most of the components but as you know semi-conductors are in short supply because of the China virus. I wish I could give you a date but not possible at this time.

Gary
