I just bought 130 acres of dirt in Jacksboro area and i need someone to setup my water well.(existing well is drilled, pump tested, but nothing else done) Part of this water is going to provide year round water to a food plot to keep the animals fed.
Any recommendations?

I used c Miller and they did good. Not sure if they work out that way or not but I know they service a big area.

I assume test was done with a generator...but now electrical has been run to the well area. Is there something i should know?

If it's any kind of distance to the well it would of been good to know the HP of the planned submersible to make sure the gauge is heavy enough. Also usually run the electrical at the same time as the pipe so you don't have to dig twice.

Im not concerned about the electrical as there is enough (gauge) there to run a bunch more! What i need is the storage tank, pressure tank and all the plumbing done as well as hook up the electrical thats just sitting there waiting to be connected.

Whoever drilled the well should be able to do that for you. You can look up online who drilled I think.

I went through my well last year and rebuilt everything. Got rid of an old ram jet setup and went with a submersible pump. Changed out the pressure tank, manifold gauges, filtration system and installed a new pressure cut off switch. This is not out of the scope of a do-it-yourselfer although it takes some work. If you wanted to go that route? Also I'd recommend building a well house around that casing. Pour a small slab around it and use cinder block. Right now probably a lot more cost effective than lumber. Possibly a small metal shed would suffice as well. Oh and heat cable will be your friend next winter. Out of curiosity how big is your food plot going to be?

Depending on which part of the county, water can be scarce. Especially enough to water a food plot of any size. Also I heard rumor that Erwin separated their drilling from the service.

Thanks a bunch for the offer...although i am pretty handy with the plumbing side of it, im fearful there is more to it than just gathering parts and assembly. Im going to stick with an expert cuz i plan on building a house and depending on my work...that scares me! lol
Im having a 12’x16’ slab poured once rain stops. I have a 3,000 gallon storage tank planned and i want room in there to store my fishing poles, tackle, etc since my pond is 50 yards away! A nice well house is in the works!

Here is a pic from Google Earth. Right now there are cattle pens that i will be removing and thats where i plan to put the food plot. Maybe 2-3 acres in size. The red circle is where the well is and you can see my pond also. The pond is much bigger now and completely full. This is all new to me so any warnings or suggestions are encouraged!

Have you looked into a solar setup???,We have one on the back part of the ranch and its great....

My only caution or warning would be the amount of water required to water a food plot. 1" of water over 1 acre of land is over 27,000 gallons of water. So if your plot is lets say 2.5 acres that's 67,500 gallons each time you water provided you water 1".

Math is good! Definitely something to consider.

This is great information and im shocked at the amount of water required. Looks like the food plot will be shrinking a bit. lol Also, i guess i should be clear that my plan was to only use the water well on the food plot under dry conditions where mother nature wasnt cooperating. (Same with the pond) So far the advice has been welcomed, needed and an eye-opener!
