I hate to bring up another covid thread, but this story got me thinking, how scared have people really been?

Story: a young woman got the wrong tatoo put on her shoulder recently, coordinates of a location, supposed to be sedona AZ but instead its some random spot in the south pacific. She wrote out S instead of N (its telling I guess how stupid she is). The reason for the tatoo was becasue the woman and her friends all took a special trip to sedona to commemorate them all becoming fully vaccinated recently, and she wanted to memorialize the event with a tatoo of the special event by putting the coordinates for sedona in a tatoo.

I am sorry, but she could have travelled to sedona the whole time during all this covid madness. This isn't some special trip. You telling me she didn't travel anywhere all because of covid for over a year?

Just how scared have some (prob most) people been over this thing?

Not a brag, but in the last year I have been to Ohio, Colorado twice, tennessee, montana, cabo san lucas, florida, alabama, and have travelled back and forth from my place in OK many times. Flew to all those except Alabama and OK. I hate wearing a mask in the airport/plane, but really haven't been concerned at all about traveling.

And this woman was a young mid 20's type, the type that has an almost zero risk from this virus.

I know 2nd hand of a family that has not had contact with others since the pandemic. It’s a good friends college buddy. They live in Colorado. They post pics on the internet of themselves hiking as a family with mask on, on peaks. My buddy asked if his kids play with their friend and he said they play on zoom.

Other than wearing a mask some times, my life didn't change. We went on more trips since April of last year than any single year ever, since the kids were out of school for 3 months. I went to work every day, never had the option to work from home. My number is already written somewhere, Covid or not I'm living my life.

I have a cousin like that. They have a college age kid that they had come home and quit his job so he could be with them in isolation. They take their camper on trips but do not interact with anyone that does not live in the house. Poor kids haven't had physical contact with their own grandparents in a year.

Bill Maher had a great monologue on all of the COVID stupidity a week or so ago.....he said surveys have shown that people think that 25% of people with COVID are hospitalized when in reality it is 1-5%.

Went to a few stores (Home Depot and ACE) this past weekend and probably 75% of people are still wearing masks, even where they aren't required. It's crazy. People have lost their minds.

+1

I know people who know people who have not left their house since this all started. They just have everything delivered to their door.

My elderly mom was very scared of it too, but she didn't get elderly by being foolish either.

Never batted an eye. Think I had it early on before the announcement but still traveled, planes, Uber, hotels then out of my control company sold business but I was still out there in public doing my thing. Found another sales position and was still meeting the public on a daily basis...nothing on my side ever changes, I never was scared and still not.

We have one person at work who has not been out to eat yet since this all started. He’s a religious mask wearer as well. Everyone in his house has been vaccinated. His daughter is about to finish college online and they’re having a drive by party for her. He brought it to my attention last week that others weren’t strictly following the company mask policy so I had to have a meeting once it was officially brought to my attention. Did I mention his family has been vaccinated?

He is the only democrat on my crew.

I fully admit there was a few weeks when this started I was concerned. Then when they started shutting the nation down long term I was against all of it. Let the chips fall where they may. We’ve almost crippled our nation now and blame it on Covid. It’s 100% to blame on policy.

The good news is I may win from this. Selling my house now in a high market, buying when the market is saturated from all the currently blocked foreclosures. Unless something changes that process will start June 1st when the government protection expires.

As our parents get older it’s up to us to guide them through some of the hurdles and show them the reality of what the media is over hyping. But well never mind

In Home Depot right now. I’m the only person in the store without a mask. Is that scared, cautious, or just plain weak [censored] conformity.

We did a kayak trip at broken Bow last Labor Day and there were two boys probably 10 years old, somewhere in that age wearing mask. I thought was odd but I assume that their parents made them wear the mask because they were concerned, that’s between them and their parents. but I had to pull those two boys off of rocks twice because they were hung up in about to tip over I never once saw their parents.

The social distancing was nice at Dega race this weekend had a lil elbow room instead of being cramped up . Still seen a lot of people wrapped up like a like a burrito.

Everywhere I go, this is still the case. When I bring it up to people, they ALL say “well if I can prevent that one person from getting it” and others just say it doesn’t bother them so why not.

I guess I’m one of the few that it bugs the ever living daylights out of.

I've enjoyed the social distancing but not because of Covid. I don't need to have another human breathing down my neck or touching me whether there is a pandemic or not.
