I use Big Sky and Kolpin cases on my Ranger. One is mounted overhead and one is mounted on the roll cage. I made my own shooting rest out of conduit and pipe insulation, then wrapped in electrical tape.

STXRANCHMAN, that bottom pic looks good but I don't think it would last long in the Sulphur River bottoms timber.

if you are still looking for a dealer, langdon outdoors in paris is excellent and has some in stock (no idea what models). we have 3 defenders and one 4 wheeler, one mxr and an mxr crew, defender and the 4 wheeler. have had every brand out here when a membership and the defender is by far the best maintenance wise, they all break at some point. as for aftermarket, quack rack makes a lot of stuff for them, langdon can get about anything you want ordered or made at competitive prices imo. the owners went nuts on ours, the standard mxr is stock with 29" while the standard defender crew is on a 6" lift with 33" tractor tires (this one has a thermal on top as a bonus). our mxr crew is on tracks as is the 4 wheeler. the track units are beyond awesome in our mud. langdon has stores in paris and another in texarkana, Todd the owner is a good guy to do business with. standard defender on 33" mxr crew on tracks 4 wheeler, this thing has way too much power.

You just have to remember that it isn't a bulldozer and not run over the really tall stuff that would grab at the gun boot. I have two of the Kolpin side mounted gun boots and can take them off in seconds if I wanted to or need to. That is why I have the Big Sky gun rack under the roof.

Been really looking into these and debating the 3k upgrade to the HD10, is it worth it? I am in Val Verde county so no mud just rocks and mesquite. We have some older model Polaris crew 1000 currently and of course they come in right between at 60hp. They have more than enough power to get us anywhere we need to go.
I also read that the HD10 might be quieter than the HD8, is that true?

I think so, but then again I tow 3k lbs with it semi-regularly. The HD8 won't cut it for that

Well... I ended up going back on my word... Dang CanAm dealer just too proud of their stuff. $800 dealer fee, $900 fee to put it together, $400 fee to keep it clean, $900 fee because my name is Chris... Long story short, OTD price on a machine that MSRP at $16,800 was a over $20k!!! Definitely don't recommend the "Freedom Powersports" group. Ended up a Ranger XP1000. Glass front and back glass windshields are on back order, but on the way!!

Nice looking ride. May I ask...just a "ballpark" price? Well, Polaris was running some incentives with Ag exempt, so OTD price with the plastic roof was a touch over the $16 mark.

About the pull the trigger on a Defender Max Ops and seeing a mark up of around $1500 over what CanAm's website is showing. Is this normal or is anyone else finding some at the listed price.
I have also spoken to a couple dealers that will not sell them without the accessory package that includes a winch, gun racks, and rear seat.

Has anyone put the 3" lift kit on theirs? We opted for the Max Ops and could maybe use a little more ground clearance. Getting quoted around $500 installed for it.

No lift kit on mine, it isn't needed. I have a full length skid plate and I scrape it occasionally, but I don't high center and I try not to take the most difficult route

Are you talking about the DPS? DPS stands for Dynamic Power Steering. As for the lift, which one are you looking at? S3 powersports makes a set of HD springs that are the best, IMO. I have them on my Lonestar and they should have come from the factory that way. I gained about 2", but also gained a lot of payload, plus it's more stable in corners.

I put a dealer 3" lift on and it is still not high enough and we scraped a lot over the weekend. It probably sits 11-12" off the ground with the lift and we need to get to around 15" to match our Rangers. The dealership will not put anything higher on since we have a seat in the back for insurance reasons. I will look into the S3 for sure. How or what does Can AM use to get the Lone Star the extra 3" from the factory? As advertised mine says 11" and the Lone Star is at 14". We only run around 12 PSI in the front and around 15 PSI in the rear and they is why it may sit a little lower than expected.

We only run around 12 PSI in the front and around 15 PSI in the rear and they is why it may sit a little lower than expected. Sorry, I just saw this. The lonestar has completely different suspension set up. Wider and arched A-arms, longer axles, longer shocks, longer tie rods, plus the factory tires are a hair bigger on the lonestar vs. the DPS models. What all did they put on for the 3" lift? Did they put puck spacers in where the coils go? Bracket lift (brackets on the bottom side of the shock)? I'm curious what they added. It will all depend on your goals for the rig on what you should go with, IMO. If you're strictly after lift only, a puck spacer will gain you a little more height than the S3 springs, but will be quite a bit rougher. S3 springs will typically gain you ~1.5-3" of lift depending on the machine, but gives you more payload, but also gives you a much more controlled feel in higher speed cornering. The bracket lift will just gain you ~2". Larger tires will help with a little more ground clearance. On the non-Lonestar or XMR models, a 30" tire is about as big as you can go without having to go with some forward A-arms on the front. XMR and Lonestars, having the wider and slightly taller suspension, can run 32" tires without the need for the forward front a-arms. If you want to start getting into the big boy tires, a set of forward front a-arms and portals is the way to go. A friend of mine has a set of 4" portals on his and runs 35" tires and does some pretty gnarly rock crawling with his. It all really just comes down to what's your overall goal in what you want out of your buggy.
