We all know about the curly shuffle. After I processed the last hog I shot a couple of weeks ago I saw something that could give the weak a case of the heebie-jeebies. This was about 20 minutes post-mortem. And yes - she had more fat than I've seen on any hog, and pregnant. Since it was a brain shot I wonder if the twitching had anything to do with the quick kill. Okay, I certainly never knew what it was called, or if it even had a name (other than 'twitching'), but I too have had hogs that were very dead (head shot, been on the ground for over ten minutes) that continued to 'twitch' very noticeably.

Yep had one doing the same thing the other night at least half an hour after it was dropped.

I've had backstrap twitch in my hand while it was already half cut out. That made me jump.

I have seen it several times on both pigs and deer.

Always freaks my wife out to see a ham (1 hr from being attached to a live pig) twitching on the counter as I'm cleaning it.

I've seen that also on fish when cleaning them.

Snakes are notorious for this even after the head is detached. I had a freshly beheaded rattler that seemed to react every time I touched the body. It would turn back as if it still had the head attached and was going to bite. Pretty freaky.
