Picked up my new pup, english pointer elhew type from Encore kennels. Was thinking of heading to TX for some quail maybe some woodcock later this year. Anyone have any leases or farms I could hunt for 5 days? Willing to pay a trespass fee, I live in va we have a few grouse and decent woodcock nothing too crazy, I just want to expose him to as many wild birds as I can his first couple years.

Excellent example of an Elhew! Mine was all white, except for one ear ticked. Later she developed a lot of ticking all over.

Beautiful pup. If it’s your first, it would be great if you had a mentor to show you the ropes when introducing him to gunfire. Not a difficult process but you need to do it correctly.

That's a fine looking pup. Good luck on finding a day-lease in TX...I'm guessing SD and ND public would be easier to find. Good advice. Texas is actually not a good place to come. Check out block management in Montana/ND then work your way south through SD and Nebraska then to the WIHA in Kansas. Nice looking pup! I had an Elhew female in the 80's that looked a lot like yours. She was the most trustworthy pointer I've had.
