I recently picked up a Beretta 391 Urika 2, and from time to time when I go to fire the shotgun, it just goes “click”. So I proceed to eject the shell, which loads a shell from the mag tube into the chamber, and I place the original shell back into the mag tube, at which time the gun fires both shells flawlessly. Any idea what could be causing it to misfire the first time then proceed to run just fine? Need to replace my firing pin? Put in a new firing pin spring? Any guidance is greatly appreciated!

I am not an expert and do not claim to be one. I would first clean it as best as possible and see if that fixes the issue. As my dear departed Granddad used to say, start with the simplest and work from there.

A firing pin that's not hitting with consistent force due to a buildup of residue and/or poor lubrication would be my first check as well. What you find during disassembly and the condition of the parts should be very telling if anything needs to be replaced.

Search benelli click on google and some of the shotgun forums.. mostly caused by dirt, debris in the bolt lock up area.. also could be a gummed up firing pin.
Happened to me today shooting a tournament I just palmed my bolt closed and opened it a few times reloaded and shot. Never a single issue afterwards. My gun was kinda on the dry side, I dropped some shells maybe had some grit.. idk.

Thank y’all! I will start with a good thorough break down and go from there!

It’s aggravating because it happened to me at the New Hope shoot today!

It can also be dangerous when it results in delayed discharges or "hang fires".

Be sure to let us know what you discover after a further check and cleaning.

When you put it back together, use a good gun oil. Please do NOT use WD-40. I know some folks swear by it, but at my dad's gun shop we made lots of easy money cleaning guns that would not fire that had been sprayed down with it. WD-40 is a great product and has many, many uses, but the inner works of a fine firearm is not one of them.

The Beretta AL391 Urika 2 does not use a rotating bolt head, so there is no "Benelli Click" issue to worry about.

(The Urika 2 bolt design is the same bolt that has been used on Beretta semi-auto's going all the way back to the 300 series (300/301/302/303/390/391/and even the A300 Outlander) with its locking top that mates into the upper cut of the barrel extension.)

However, a fouled firing pin spring could very well be causing the occasional failure to fire as noted by the OP.

I recommend a thorough breakdown and cleaning, especially of the bolt assembly...and if this does not solve the problem, a replacement of the firing pin spring is in order.

And as long as the gun is apart, replacing the bolt recoil spring in the stock tube is good insurance too...as the gun was acquired second hand, there is no telling how many rounds the previous owner put down the pipe. The fresh stock tube recoil spring will prevent the bolt from over-speeding which can lead to other parts breakages.

All in all, the 391 is a great gun and will provide decades of service!

Clean the firing pin channel and lubricate well. A dry firing pin channel can cause intermittent failure to fire. If you are letting the bolt down easy rather than letting it slam home, the bolt may not be fully engaged.

Good point and something I've learned to watch for with my Remington Model 1100 as well, especially during those times when you're in the woods and not wanting to create too much noise.
