Forgot my headlamp and cushion, but I ain't no quitter. Plopped down in the mud on the edge of a misty fog covered field and waited to hear a gobble. Sure enough a tom fired up and I gave a few responses. He started going off like crazy, but when it sounded like he was close to the edge of the woods he shut up. I shut up and waited. When he gobbled again, he was 150 yards away on the opposite side of the field, but out in the open. I gave a few light calls to make sure he was seeing my jake/hen setup. He started working his way in, but stopped about 60 yards out on a little mound and stayed there. I was about to try some purring, when a real hen walked up right next to me and started calling for me.
