Need recommendations on the good and the bad please. Looking to purchase a pair for bow and rifle hunting that are user friendly and the best bang for your buck.

I know vortex has a bad rap around here, but I bought a vortex ranger 1800.

Ive had it 3 years and been happy with it. I chose vortex as they were the only one with a lifetime warranty.

Price point sig and vortex.

Ran both hard. I highly suggest a model with auto brightness. Negative to red, is it can be blinding in low light and if left adjusted too low, it can be non visible in bright afternoon light.

That is an issue with the vortex for sure.

Though I’ve said it here a couple of times already, it’s worth a repeat. Before I got the Leica, I used a Nikon 600 rangefinder for years. Always worked, was easy to use, battery life was great. I’d still be using it, but I found that the actual rangefinding was limited to 400 yards on brown and muddy critters and deer. I think I ranged a pig at 405 yards once. It was an excellent rangefinder and did everything my Leica does, but only for 400 yards. It’d range a shiny sign or truck to 900 yards. Anyway, if you have no long distance shooting in mind, consider the Nikon.

I don’t care for their scopes but I do like their binos and rangefinders

I also use a Vortex Ranger 1800 for exactly the same reason as Red Chevy. I hunt in areas where you might get it wet and I’ve already found out how Bushnell stands behind theirs. Not!

The way these things have improved over the last 5-10 years I would not spend a fortune on one. I have a Nikon 7I and it has about 400-500 yard limitation but it fine for 90% of my hunting, you can spend a fortune keeping up with technology.

2nd this! With the BDX app on your phone you can setup ballistic profiles that it will sync with the range finder so it reads out not only the distance but holdovers in MIL or MOA. Pretty slick setup.

I have a Bushnell Yardage Pro Compact 800 and it does everything I need it to do. When I bought it I think it was about $225.

This is a deal at $70. 2cents

I have the Kilo 2200 and can say it is strong in glass and features. I do connect it to their sierra 6 scope so I may be a little biased.
